Caitlin Clark made sure Iowa opened the 2026-27 season with a little extra shine.
While the WNBA offseason keeps her away from the floor for now, the Iowa legend still found a way to look out for the program that helped turn her into a star. The Hawkeyes women’s basketball team received a special delivery from Clark just ahead of the new college season, and it came in the form of her first signature shoe with Nike, the Caitlin Clark 1.
Even better for Iowa, the pair was the yellow-and-black colorway tied to the school. That made the gift feel tailor-made for the Hawkeyes, who were set to debut the shoes in their first game of the 2026-27 campaign.
The team acknowledged the moment on November 2, 2026, posting: "Another special delivery from CC ahead of Game 1 🟡⚫️ @CaitlinClark22 x #Hawkeyes https://t.co/BcLqR3GlX9"
Clark’s signature line has already drawn plenty of attention since its launch, with multiple notable releases along the way. One of the most recent was a Halloween-inspired “Jinx” colorway that included a glow-in-the-dark feature.
The new shoes landed in the hands of a team that started the year with some momentum. Iowa opened the season later on Monday with a 73-45 home win over Towson, and guard Dani Carnegie paced the Hawkeyes with 21 points and five assists.
Iowa entered the season ranked 10th in the county in a field that includes South Carolina and UConn.
Meanwhile, Clark is spending the week on a press tour for her new children’s book, with appearances lined up on some of the biggest shows in America.

Iowa Gets Its First Real Test In Ben McCollums Home Debut
The first home game of the Ben McCollum era arrives with a little more substance than a typical early-November tuneup. Iowa is set to open the 2026-27 season against Lipscomb on Nov. 3, and after a pair of closed scrimmages and an exhibition win over Illinois Springfield, the Hawkeyes will finally get a chance to show what their new look means in a real game setting.
Lipscomb is not bringing in the kind of opponent that lets a team ease into the schedule, either. Kevin Carrolls group began its season against Southeast Missouri State and comes with three preseason all-conference players, which gives Iowa an early measuring stick in McCollums home debut. For a program trying to establish a new identity, the opener already has the feel of something more than just the first game on the calendar. [Read more 🡒]
Iowa Is Rallying Around Jack Campbell After A Scary NFL Moment
Jack Campbells injury in Sundays game against the Minnesota Vikings sent a jolt through everyone who watched the former Iowa linebacker get taken off the field on a stretcher. The Detroit Lions later offered a more reassuring update, saying Campbell was resting and recovering in a hospital with positive early indications, but the moment was still enough to trigger an immediate wave of concern back in Iowa, where he remains one of the programs most respected recent alumni.
Kirk Ferentz and Campbells former teammates have already made clear how much he means to the Hawkeyes family, and their thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers. For Iowa fans, it was a reminder that the bond with Campbell goes well beyond his college career, and even in a scary NFL scene, the support from Iowa has been instant and unmistakable. [Read more 🡒]
Iowa Faces A Road Test That Could Shape Its CFP Hopes
Iowa heads to Northwestern for a road test that comes with a little extra intrigue, not just because it will be the Hawkeyes first game at the Wildcats new Ryan Field since 2021, but because the timing lines up with the first College Football Playoff rankings release. The matchup brings together a team still sorting out its quarterback situation and another that has been tough to beat at home this season, even if Northwestern has not yet seen a ranked opponent in its new building.
For Iowa, the assignment is as much about execution as it is about the standings. The Hawkeyes have to find a way to handle Northwesterns home comfort, protect the ball, and get enough from the offense to avoid letting a tricky road environment turn into a missed opportunity in the postseason picture. With CFP implications beginning to come into focus, this is the kind of November game that can quietly carry more weight than it first appears. [Read more 🡒]
