The Minnesota Vikings may be the team that changes everything in the Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes.
With the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline closing in, Minnesota is being linked to both Taylor and Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, and that overlap could give Indianapolis a chance to push for a huge return. NFL reporter Evan Sidery says the Colts could try to turn the Vikings’ interest into a package deal, with a 2027 first-round pick potentially heading back to Indianapolis if both players are moved.
Sidery believes that kind of setup could put Minnesota ahead of the New York Giants in the race for Taylor. He wrote: “The Vikings could now end up jumping the Giants as favorites to acquire Jonathan Taylor.
With Minnesota also interested in Daniel Jones, the Colts can capitalize by offering both for their 2027 1st. Indianapolis has held out for that deal, and it might finally be arriving soon,” Sidery wrote.
The asking price for Taylor has been the sticking point all along. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that Indianapolis wants a first-round pick or something close to the haul San Francisco got for Christian McCaffrey.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport also reported that the Colts want a McCaffrey-type return. That could mean a package built around second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round picks.
Indianapolis also turned down an offer that included a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick, though some league sources questioned whether that report was accurate.
Minnesota has football reasons to keep pressing. The Vikings have not gotten steady production from Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, and Taylor would instantly give their offense a different gear. The Giants have a need too, especially with Cam Skattebo struggling to provide the expected production and now dealing with an injury setback, while Tyrone Tracy is on injured reserve.
Even so, Minnesota looks like the cleaner fit for Taylor. The Vikings have stronger playoff ambitions, and their defense gives them a better shot to compete despite inconsistent quarterback play from Kyler Murray.
Jones could also have a path back to Minnesota. He was considered by the Vikings before signing with Indianapolis, so a return to a team that once wanted him is on the table. But there’s a wrinkle: Jones has some control because of the injury guarantees in his contract, and he could refuse to waive those guarantees, which would make any deal more complicated.
With the deadline getting closer, the Vikings could be the team that finally gives the Colts the package they’ve been waiting for.

Cowboys Still Waiting On Two Crucial Calls Before Colts Game
The Cowboys are still sorting through two key injury situations as they get ready for their Week 9 meeting with the Colts. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and wide receiver George Pickens were both limited, and head coach Brian Schottenheimer said each is hopeful to be available, though neither is exactly at full speed right now.
For Indianapolis, the final injury report will matter because it could shape how Dallas approaches both sides of the ball. Pickens and Porter remain questionable, and the picture should get clearer once the Cowboys release their last report before kickoff, leaving one more layer of uncertainty in a matchup that already carries plenty of stakes. Colts Could Be Pulled Into A Quarterback Race Fast
The quarterback market can move quickly this time of year, and the Colts could find themselves in the middle of it before long. Minnesota is sorting through its own options with Kyler Murray sidelined by a hamstring injury and Carson Wentz set to start against the Bills, a decision tree that could ripple beyond the Vikings building and into Indianapolis.
If Monday night goes a certain way, the Colts may suddenly be dealing with outside interest in Daniel Jones, with salary considerations and an incoming new general manager making the situation worth watching from their side. It is the kind of front-office wrinkle that can surface fast, especially when one team is trying to stabilize its quarterback room and another is already thinking ahead to next year. [Read more 🡒]
Colts Trade Deadline Direction Is Starting To Look Painfully Clear
With the trade deadline approaching, Indianapolis has become one of the more interesting teams to watch because the Colts are reportedly open to moving several players as they lean into a rebuild. That kind of posture naturally draws interest around the league, especially from teams looking for immediate help on defense, and it has put the Colts in the middle of a lot of deadline chatter even before anything actually happens.
One name that has surfaced in that conversation is Grover Stewart, a run-stuffing defensive tackle who could appeal to a contender trying to shore up the middle of its front. Stewart is in the final year of his contract, which only adds to the intrigue, and the Colts willingness to listen on veterans has already created a sense that more roster movement could be coming before the deadline passes.
