Jonathan Taylor Knows What A 2-4 Colts Team Still Needs Most

Despite swirling trade rumors, Jonathan Taylor remains steadfast in his commitment to the Colts, prioritizing team success over speculation.

Jonathan Taylor isn’t entertaining the noise.

With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Colts star made it clear Thursday that his attention stays on Indianapolis and nothing else. Asked about the speculation around his future, Taylor brushed it aside and framed any distraction as a mistake.

“I haven’t given it any thought. … I think it would be a discredit and a disservice to my teammates and this whole organization to think about what could, what should, what may be,” Taylor said, per reporter James Boyd.

That kind of answer fits where Taylor is right now: in the middle of a big season and carrying real weight for a Colts team trying to stay in the hunt. He is in his seventh NFL season with Indianapolis and has been one of the league’s top rushers, putting together one of his best years in 2025.

Through six games, Taylor has 122 carries for 492 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also added 15 catches for 163 yards, giving the Colts production on the ground and through the air.

Indianapolis enters Week 7 at 2-4, sitting second in the AFC South behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and ahead of the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. In the overall AFC picture, the Colts are 12th, with only the Texans and Titans below them among division teams and the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders just ahead.

For now, the next task is Minnesota. The Colts are on the road to face the Vikings in Week 7, with kickoff set for Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. ET.

Shane Steichen Suddenly Has Everything To Prove In Indianapolis

The Colts decision to move on from Chris Ballard after a decade has put the franchise in a new kind of spotlight, and it has left Shane Steichen as the most visible figure in an organization suddenly trying to reset on the fly. A coach who was already living with pressure now has to navigate the kind of uncertainty that follows a front-office shakeup, with every week carrying a little more weight than the last.

The next stretch is where the conversation gets serious, because Indianapolis is staring at matchups that will tell the story of Steichens standing in real time. The Vikings and Jaguars are being treated as the tests that matter most, and the Colts need wins, not just competitiveness, if Steichen wants to quiet the noise around his future and keep his job security intact.
