Simone Biles was right back where football fans have gotten used to seeing her: on an NFL sideline, this time in Indianapolis with a new team in the picture.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium to support husband Jonathan Owens as the veteran safety dressed for the Indianapolis Colts in their preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. Before Owens turned his attention to the game, the couple took a few moments together on the field.
Biles joined him before kickoff, and the two were photographed smiling, embracing and sharing a kiss on the sideline. In one of the standout images, Biles looked up at Owens as he leaned down to kiss her.
For Biles, the setting may have changed, but the routine looked familiar. The 29-year-old gymnast wore a black Colts top with matching black pants, a clear sign she has already adapted her game-day look to fit her husband’s latest stop.
Owens’ path to Indianapolis has taken him through a handful of NFL homes. After entering the league as an undrafted free agent, he has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears before joining the Colts this offseason. That move made Indianapolis the fifth NFL organization of his career.
Biles and Owens met when he was with Houston, and they married in 2023. Since then, she has become a familiar face on NFL sidelines while he has done the same for her when his schedule allowed.
She backed him during his stops in Green Bay and Chicago, and Owens returned the support when he could. One of the most memorable examples came in 2024, when the Bears gave Owens permission to miss several training camp practices so he could travel to Paris and watch Biles compete at the Olympics.
Now it was Biles’ turn again, with Owens in Colts colors and another football season about to get going.
The moment before Saturday’s preseason game was simple, but it said plenty. Their careers keep sending them to different places and demanding schedules, yet they keep showing up for each other.
