Andre Johnson, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and Texans Ring of Honor member, recently joined former NBA player-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins on the “LGND TLK” podcast and weighed in on the Houston quarterback. Johnson didn’t focus on arm talent or decision-making. The thing that stood out to him was Stroud’s demeanor after things go wrong.
“His body language is bad,” Johnson said of Stroud. “Any time something happens, it's like… He has bad body language.”
That criticism carries extra weight coming from Johnson, who spent 12 seasons in Houston and was around plenty of tough stretches with quarterbacks during his career. In his view, the issue isn’t just cosmetic. When the quarterback’s attitude looks off, the rest of the team feels it too.
“Me being a former player, your quarterback having that kind of body language is bad because other guys look at you as the quarterback, so when they see you feeling a certain way or your body language is a certain way, it kind of trickles down to the team,” Johnson continued. “I'd say that's the biggest thing that bothers me when I watch the team play.”
Johnson said the problem was especially noticeable in Houston’s postseason loss to the New England Patriots, when Stroud threw four interceptions in the first half. It’s the latest layer of scrutiny for a quarterback who has already spent months taking heat, from an uneven third season in 2025 to that rough finish in the divisional round.
Now, with contractual questions and Super Bowl stakes hanging over 2026, Stroud is already in a prove-it spot. Comments like Johnson’s only add to the pressure.
