Colts Suddenly Have A Daniel Jones Decision Fans Cant Ignore

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, the Indianapolis Colts are open to reshaping their roster by considering trade offers for quarterback Daniel Jones amidst growing interest and ongoing team challenges.

The Colts’ quarterback situation has suddenly become part of the NFL trade deadline conversation.

While much of the attention in Indianapolis has centered on Jonathan Taylor, reports from Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter say the Colts have “received calls” from multiple teams about Daniel Jones and are “willing to listen to offers.”

Schefter and Rapoport also reported that Indianapolis is expected to take calls on Jones through Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline because it wants to add as much draft capital as possible while also cutting down on financial risk.

Jones is drawing interest elsewhere too. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said the quarterback is on his radar with the deadline approaching, especially for the Minnesota Vikings.

“Daniel Jones is earmarked and on my radar for this weekend,” Fowler began, “because people around the league I’ve spoken to, and even some people with the Colts, believe that Daniel Jones should be trying to get out of Indy, or maybe wants to because it’s a bit of a sinking ship there, rebuild, questions about whether he should be benched every week.

“So if there is a quarterback deal to be had, my sense is that Jones wouldn’t mind being a part of it. Now Minnesota, old place where he played, he’s got friends there, but they got stuff to worry about trying to get Carson Wentz ready for Monday Night. A quick turnaround for the trade deadline.”

Minnesota stands out as a logical team to monitor if a quarterback move develops. The Vikings have a defense capable of carrying a run, but their offense has not produced enough, and Jones’ previous time in Kevin O’Connell’s system could make a quick transition easier.

The numbers this season haven’t helped Jones’ case. He has thrown nine interceptions, lost a few fumbles, completed 60% of his passes and averaged 5.8 yards per attempt, a drop from last season’s 8.1 yards per throw.

Still, Shane Steichen said this week that Jones needs to play better, but the rest of the offense has to do its part too.

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10.

Colts Could Be Pulled Into A Quarterback Race Fast

The quarterback market around the league has a way of shifting quickly, and the Colts could find themselves watching the ripple effects before long. Minnesota is sorting through its own options with Kyler Murray sidelined by a hamstring injury and Carson Wentz set to start against the Bills, a situation that could force the Vikings to keep exploring outside help if things go sideways on Monday night.

For Indianapolis, that kind of uncertainty matters because Daniel Jones sits in a spot where a trade would not be hard to imagine. Salary considerations are part of the equation, and with a new general manager set to arrive next year, the Colts could be open to moving him if the right opportunity develops, especially if the Vikings decide they need to act fast in a quarterback race that is still very much alive. Colts Face One Week 9 Problem The Numbers Keep Pointing To

The Colts head into Week 9 with the kind of statistical profile that makes a matchup feel a little more fragile than the standings might suggest. Against Dallas, the numbers point to a game where both teams can find openings in different phases, with the comparison driven by team rankings and Pro Football Reference data that lays out where Indianapolis can lean on efficiency and where it has to be cleaner.

For the Colts, the concern is less about one glaring weakness than the accumulation of them, especially when the margins tighten against a team that can sustain drives and finish them. Indianapolis has to sort through issues in several key areas if it wants to keep the Cowboys from turning those advantages into a long afternoon, and the matchup figures suggest the pressure points are easy to spot even if the full answer is not. Quenton Nelson News Just Changed How Colts Fans See That Trade

Quenton Nelsons first weeks in Seattle are already looking different than anyone expected when the former Colts guard was dealt away. The knee issue that followed him into the trade has now led to minor cartilage surgery, and the Seahawks are bracing for him to miss at least a few weeks while he recovers.

Mike Macdonald said the condition was already there before the deal and got worse in the loss to the Bears, which changes the way Colts fans may look back at the move. Nelson is not headed to injured reserve, so there is still a path for him to return in about three weeks, but the immediate picture is a reminder that this was never a clean break for either side.
