Quenton Nelson Adds Another All-Pro Nod to a Hall-of-Fame-Caliber Resume
INDIANAPOLIS - Quenton Nelson isn’t just holding the line for the Colts - he’s redefining what long-term dominance looks like in the trenches.
The veteran left guard has been named second-team All-Pro once again, marking his sixth All-Pro selection in just eight seasons. That includes three first-team honors from 2018 to 2020, and second-team nods in 2021, 2024, and now this season. No other guard in Colts history has earned that many All-Pro selections - Nelson stands alone.
And the accolades don’t stop there. Earlier this season, Nelson became the first player in franchise history to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight years in the league. That puts him in rare company: only Nelson and Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame tackle Joe Thomas have ever pulled that off in NFL history.
To put that in perspective, the last Colt to make eight straight Pro Bowls was Peyton Manning. And the last Colts offensive lineman to do it? That would be Hall of Famer Jim Parker, who earned the honor every year from 1958 to 1965.
Since being drafted sixth overall in 2018, Nelson has been everything the Colts hoped for and more. He’s started 132 of a possible 136 games, missing just four - three due to an ankle injury and one because of COVID protocols back in 2021. He’s currently riding a streak of 70 consecutive starts, a testament to his durability and consistency in one of the league’s most physically demanding positions.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen summed it up best: “Shoot, it’s hard to play at that level for one year in this league, for a bunch of guys, and for him to go out just day-in, day-out, attack his work, attack his role, working, getting better. He’s been really, really good for us, really, really consistent for us for a whole bunch of years.”
That combination of elite performance, ironman availability, and unwavering work ethic is what separates Nelson from the pack. In a league where offensive linemen often go underappreciated, Nelson continues to make it impossible to overlook him.
At this point, we're not just watching one of the best guards in the NFL - we're witnessing a career that’s building a legitimate case for Canton.
