The Indianapolis Colts are making moves in free agency, focusing on bolstering their secondary. Their latest addition is a talented defensive back from the Bengals, Cam Taylor-Britt, who brings seven career interceptions to the table. According to a report by Tom Pelissero, Taylor-Britt is set to reunite with Defensive Coordinator Lou Anarumo.
Taylor-Britt's deal with the Colts is a one-year, prove-it contract. This low-risk move could pay off, considering Taylor-Britt started 38 games in his first three NFL seasons and is still just 26 years old.
Drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Taylor-Britt made his mark with four interceptions in 2023 and three in 2024. His knack for breaking up passes is also notable, with 11 pass breakups in 2023 and 16 in 2024. However, 2025 was a challenging year for him, as he struggled to maintain his role as the Bengals' top cornerback, starting only two games due to a Lisfranc injury suffered in Week 11 against the Steelers.
The Colts' cornerback room is now quite competitive. With Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward leading the charge, and players like Kenny Moore II, Justin Walley, Mekhi Blackmon, Johnathan Edwards, Jaylon Jones, and Wyett Ekeler in the mix, training camp should be intense.
Adding to the intrigue, the Colts have shown interest in Indiana cornerback D’Angelo Ponds, sitting at No. 47 overall in the draft. While some mock drafts suggest they might target a linebacker like Cincinnati’s Jake Golday or Texas’ Anthony Hill, or even a wide receiver such as Alabama’s Germie Bernard or Georgia State’s Ted Hurst, the focus on strengthening the secondary is clear.
