Colts Plan Major Training Camp Shift Starting in 2027

Amid evolving needs and league-wide trends, the Colts are planning a major shift in where they prepare for the season.

Colts to Relocate Training Camp to Team Headquarters Starting in 2027

After nearly a decade of hosting training camp in Westfield, the Indianapolis Colts are making a significant shift. Beginning in 2027, the team will move its summer preparations back home to the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, ending what’s been a memorable run at Grand Park Sports Campus.

The decision, according to the team, comes down to evolving logistical and technological needs-an increasingly common trend across the league. With this move, the Colts will join the majority of NFL franchises-26 in total-who now operate training camp out of their own practice facilities.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about dissatisfaction with Grand Park. In fact, the Colts were quick to praise the Westfield venue, calling it “one of the top sports facilities of its kind anywhere in the world.” And they’re not wrong-Grand Park has been a standout location, offering fans a unique, up-close look at the team each summer since 2018.

But as NFL operations become more complex and technology-driven, the convenience and infrastructure of a home base can be tough to beat. From streamlined access to medical and recovery facilities, to enhanced video and data capabilities, staying in-house offers teams a level of control and efficiency that's tough to replicate elsewhere.

That said, the Colts aren’t closing the door on fan engagement. In a statement, the team emphasized its continued commitment to creating opportunities for fans to attend and be involved in training camp-even if the setting changes.

“Even though camp will look a little different in 2027, we’ll still be committed to creating opportunities for fans to attend and be involved,” the team said. “More info will be coming next year, following the 2026 season.”

So while the location may change, the Colts are making it clear: the fan experience remains a priority.

Westfield, meanwhile, is taking the news with a mix of disappointment and appreciation. Mayor Scott Willis acknowledged the end of an era but focused on the positives of the long-standing partnership.

“While we are disappointed to see Colts Training Camp eventually leave Westfield, we are grateful for the strong partnership we have shared since 2018,” Willis said. “We’ve been proud to play a part creating lasting memories for fans while showcasing our community on a national stage.”

The 2026 training camp will be the final one held at Grand Park, and the Colts are planning to send off their Westfield chapter in style. Expect special events and moments to celebrate what’s been a successful and fan-friendly run in Hamilton County.

This move marks a new chapter for the Colts-one that aligns with where the NFL is heading in terms of operations and infrastructure. But it also closes a meaningful one, filled with autograph lines, training camp battles, and thousands of fans soaking up the summer sun while watching their team gear up for the season.

The setting may change, but the mission stays the same: prepare for football, connect with the fans, and chase greatness.
