Sunday Night Football brings a showdown slate with stars at the top and cheap volume plays in the middle, and the biggest name to build around is Kenneth Walker III.
Walker III, priced at DK: $10,600 and FD: $11,800, came out of the gate with a monster debut for the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Seattle Seahawk followed up his Super-Bowl MVP form with 34.1 PPR points, and the usage was exactly what DFS players want to see.
Kansas City made him the center of the offense, handing him the ball 23 times while also feeding him in the passing game. He caught 6 passes, tying Xavier Worthy for the most on the Chiefs, and finished with a workload that makes him hard to fade in a showdown build.
That kind of volume matters even more against an Indianapolis Colts defense that had a rough opening week against the run. Baltimore’s Derrick Henry carved them up for 35.3 Fantasy points on 25 touches and finished as RB 1 in week 1.
Walker III looks positioned for a similar type of workload, giving him both a sturdy floor and slate-breaking upside. Even with the second-highest salary on the board, he belongs in the captain conversation.
The Colts’ passing game is messier, which pushes Tyler Warren to the front of the line. Warren checks in at DK: $7,200 and FD: $7,600, and he stands out as the most reliable Colts pass catcher in a group with plenty of uncertainty.
Alec Pierce, priced at DK: $7,600 and FD: $8,600, was on a snap count in week 1 but seems set for a full workload in week 2. That still leaves the wide receiver picture cloudy, especially with Josh Downs at DK: $6,600 and FD: $8,400 and Keenan Allen at DK: $5,600 and FD: $6,400 leading the team in snap counts while Pierce was limited to 32 snaps.
Warren is the safer bet because of his role. He played 93% of the snaps in week 1, even though the targets didn’t fully follow.
That should improve in week 2, and the matchup lines up well too. The Chiefs’ pass defense was strong in week 1 against Denver, shutting down Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton, but tight end Evan Engram found room and posted 14.3 PPR points.
That gives Warren a clear path as the Colts pass catcher to prioritize.
For DFS players hunting salary relief, there are also two cheaper pieces worth noting: Gray at DK: $3,000 and FD: $4,000, and Thorton at DK: $3,800 and FD: $4,600. Gray played 55% of the snaps in week 1, while Thorton was on the field for 68%.
Neither produced much fantasy value last week, but both saw enough playing time to be live value options. In a showdown slate, that kind of snap share at those prices can be the difference between fitting in the stars or missing out on them.
