The Colts left Week 2 with another loss to the Chiefs, but the Pro Football Focus numbers paint a clearer picture of who actually held up and who didn’t in the defeat.
On offense, Josh Downs stood out as Indianapolis’ sharpest weapon. The wideout earned an 87.2 grade, the best mark on the team, and was a tough cover throughout the game even with Alec Pierce sidelined. Downs finished with seven catches on nine targets for 72 yards.
Quenton Nelson was right behind him at 81.7, and his impact showed up in the trenches. He helped spring several of Jonathan Taylor’s bigger runs and posted a 78.4 run-blocking grade. Taylor himself checked in at 66.8 after serving as the engine of the offense, piling up more than 130 yards of total production and scoring twice.
Daniel Jones landed at 73.6 after an efficient outing in which the Colts didn’t ask him to stretch the field much. He threw for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Tyler Warren rounded out the top five at 64.8, finishing second on the team in both targets and catches while totaling 21 yards and a touchdown.
The defense didn’t feature many bright spots in the grades. Charvarius Ward led the way at 70.2 before leaving with a groin injury.
He allowed just one catch for six yards. Cam Taylor-Britt followed at 68.4 after giving up only one reception for 10 yards.
Sauce Gardner posted a 64.0, allowing three catches on four targets for 42 yards while also breaking up a pass.
Up front, JT Tuimoloau and DeForest Buckner came in at 60.8 and 60.4, respectively, and the pair combined for only three pressures. Neither produced especially strong work against the run.
At the bottom of the overall grades, Jerry Tillery was the lowest at 27.3. He played 33 snaps, logged a sack, and also missed a tackle.
S AJ Haulcy followed at 27.8 after being charged with four missed tackles. Jaylon Carlies finished at 29.9, with two missed tackles and six catches allowed for 103 yards.
