Colts Linked to Maxx Crosby After Shocking Raiders Exit Claim

With Maxx Crosby expected to move on from the Raiders, over 20 teams-including the Colts-are weighing what it would take to land the star pass rusher before the draft.

If Jay Glazer’s latest intel is on the money - and let’s be honest, he’s got a solid track record - then Maxx Crosby’s days in silver and black might be numbered.

During a recent appearance on Yahoo! Sports Daily, Glazer was asked point-blank whether he thinks Crosby will remain with the Raiders. His answer was short and striking: “I do,” as in, yes - he believes Crosby is on his way out.

That alone is a seismic statement. But Glazer didn’t stop there.

He added that a deal “probably” gets done before the NFL Draft, and while he didn’t name specific suitors, he made it clear there’s no shortage of interest. “The day it happened, no less than 20 teams called me and asked, ‘Is this real?

Can we get him? What’s it for?’”

Glazer said. “I’m like, guys, we’re not there yet, but yes, it’s real.”

This isn’t a situation where the Raiders are pushing Crosby out the door. According to Glazer, this is Crosby’s call.

He’s made it known to owner Mark Davis that he doesn’t want to go through another rebuild - and given the current state of the Raiders’ roster and leadership transition, it’s hard to blame him. Crosby’s been the heart and soul of that defense, but at 26 and in his prime, he wants to win now, not wait around for a new regime to figure things out.

So what would it take to pry a player like Crosby away from Vegas?

Glazer hinted that the asking price would be steep - “probably more than Micah,” he said, referencing the blockbuster deal that sent Micah Parsons from Dallas to Green Bay last August. In that trade, the Packers gave up two first-rounders and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. That’s a massive haul, and if Crosby’s price tag is even higher, we’re talking about a true franchise-altering move.

Which brings us to the Indianapolis Colts - a team that, on paper, makes a ton of sense as a landing spot. Edge rusher is arguably the Colts’ biggest need heading into the offseason.

GM Chris Ballard has been searching for a consistent game-wrecker off the edge, and Crosby is exactly that. He’s relentless, productive, and a tone-setter in every sense.

But there’s a catch - or two.

First, the Colts are short on premium draft capital. They don’t have a first-round pick in either 2026 or 2027, thanks to the deal that brought Sauce Gardner to Indy.

That puts them at a disadvantage in any bidding war. A first-rounder this year is simply more valuable than one two years down the road.

Second, there’s the matter of the cap. Crosby’s contract is no joke - his base salary ranges from $27 million to $30 million annually over the next four seasons.

While the Colts are in a healthy spot cap-wise, fitting that deal in would still take some maneuvering. It’s doable, but not without sacrifice.

There are always creative ways to make the numbers work - restructuring deals, sending players back in a trade to offset salary, or spreading out the cap hit over multiple years. But if the Colts are serious about making a run at Crosby, they’ll need to get aggressive - and a little bit creative.

Bottom line: Maxx Crosby is one of the premier defensive players in the league. If he’s truly available - and all signs point to that being the case - there will be no shortage of teams lining up to make a pitch. The Colts should absolutely be in that conversation, but they’ve got some real hurdles to clear before they can make it happen.

One thing’s for sure: this story is just getting started.
