The Colts are keeping Anthony Gould in the mix as they head into the 2026 season, with the former fifth-round pick landing on Indianapolis’ practice squad.
Gould, selected out of Oregon State in the 2024 draft, is set to enter the third season of his NFL career with the team that drafted him. His role so far has been limited on offense across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, but he carved out value on special teams as a return specialist. In 2025, he also made his debut start and got a chance to be active in the receiving corps.
That versatility is part of what has kept him around. Gould turned in a solid preseason, catching four passes for 51 yards before the roster cutdown settled him onto the practice squad, according to Matt Zenitz.
“The #Colts are signing wide receiver Anthony Gould to their practice squad, sources tell @CBSSports. Was a 2024 fifth-round pick of Indy and was a kick and punt returner for the Colts last season. Had four catches for 51 yards this preseason,” Zenitz wrote.
Indianapolis has bigger goals in front of it after missing the playoffs last season because of injuries. Daniel Jones is back from Achilles rehab, and the Colts are aiming to push past the 8-9 finishes they posted in the previous two seasons.
The bigger picture is clear: Indianapolis wants back in the postseason after a five-year absence and is chasing its first AFC South title since 2014. Gould will try to stay ready if his number gets called, especially after showing he can contribute in the return game and, when needed, on offense.
The Colts open the regular season at home against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET.

Seth McGowan has quietly turned one of the Colts deeper camp battles into a spot worth watching. The rookie running back has stood out in training camp and the preseason, and his rise has come with a little more utility than just carrying the ball, as Indianapolis has seen signs he can help on special teams and in short-yardage work.
He has reportedly moved ahead of DJ Giddens on the depth chart, while also working to sharpen his pass-catching skills.
