The Colts’ Wednesday injury report brought a mixed bag as Week 8 approaches, with a few key defenders trending in different directions and the offensive line still dealing with a familiar name on the list.
Linebacker CJ Allen (ankle) was listed as a full participant after missing the chance to suit up fully while working through the injury. Rookie linebacker Bryce Boettcher (groin), on the other hand, did not practice and appears headed toward another missed week. Veteran linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (hand) was also a full participant despite the issue.
In the secondary, cornerback Justin Walley (knee) sat out practice Wednesday. Walley had been a game time decision Sunday because of the knee injury but still managed to play and, by the report’s description, looked excellent.
Sauce Gardner (calf) returned to practice in a limited role after missing the last two games. His availability would be a major lift for a cornerback room that is getting thinner by the day.
At tight end, Drew Ogletree (knee) and Tyler Warren (groin) were both limited. Ogletree has been managing the knee problem for the past few weeks and has still been able to play. Warren’s groin injury happened at practice, and it has already kept him out for two games.
Right guard Matt Goncalves (ankle) was also limited. He has been dealing with the ankle issue for the last two weeks, but has continued to play through it. With Nelson traded to Seattle, Goncalves is now the Colts’ most experienced guard, making his presence especially important as he works through the injury.

Colts Are Betting Big On A Rookie To Replace Quenton Nelson
The Colts are moving on from a significant piece of their offensive front, and the plan now is to hand the left guard job to rookie Jalen Farmer. A fourth-round pick with limited NFL experience, Farmer has been in line for a bigger role since camp, and Indianapolis has spent the past few weeks preparing him for the jump with coaches and teammates helping smooth the transition.
Farmer will have plenty of eyes on him as he tries to step into a spot that mattered for years in Indianapolis. The coaching staff has publicly backed his readiness, and the locker room has followed suit, but replacing a proven veteran in the middle of a reshuffled line is the kind of test that can define an early season for an offense still trying to settle in. Colts Suddenly Face A Jonathan Taylor Decision That Changes Everything
The Colts have already made it clear they are willing to shake up the roster after moving Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and that alone has changed the way the rest of the league is reading their next steps. With the front office openly signaling that more deals could follow, attention has naturally turned to players like Josh Downs and Jonathan Taylor, two names that would have seemed untouchable not long ago.
Taylor is the one who creates the most immediate tension because Indianapolis now has to balance a possible trade market with the realities of the next game on the schedule. The question is no longer just whether the Colts might listen if a serious offer comes along, but how they handle his status in the meantime as the situation around him continues to build. Colts Could Face Another Tough Call On Rising Defender
The Colts have already made a pair of notable roster moves by trading Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and now the front office could be staring at another uncomfortable decision as it weighs the future of its young defenders. Adetomiwa Adebawore has not piled up eye-catching traditional numbers, but the buzz around him is growing because his advanced metrics suggest a player whose impact goes beyond the stat sheet.
Mike Garafolo recently noted that other teams are evaluating Adebawore, which only adds to the intrigue around a defender who has quietly become a name to watch. He is also in the final year of his rookie deal, so Indianapolis has to balance what he means on the field now against the possibility that he will be looking for a significant payday if he stays put.
