The Colts have already made one of the most aggressive moves of the deadline season, dealing two team leaders while also exploring trade possibilities for Jonathan Taylor and Josh Downs. But if the phone keeps ringing in Indianapolis, Daniel Jones could be the name that sneaks into the conversation.
That idea isn’t coming out of nowhere. With the Baltimore Ravens sitting at 4-4 and dealing with injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley in Week 8, they suddenly have a real quarterback problem. If Baltimore decides it has to patch things together fast, the Colts could become a logical place to call.
The Minnesota Vikings are another team to watch. They’re 6-1 and could be searching for a backup to Kyler Murray, who is dealing with hamstring issues. Jones spent the 2024 season on Minnesota’s roster, though he did not play.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter raised the possibility on his podcast, saying, "Could the Baltimore Ravens make a run at Daniel Jones? Could the Minnesota Vikings make a run at Daniel Jones?"
Schefter added, "I know we’re focused in on Taylor and Downs, as we should be, and I’m not telling you they’re trading Daniel Jones. But sometimes it’s the curveball that you don’t see."
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler also said Jones is coming up in conversations. "Some conversations I had early this week made me think the Colts' Daniel Jones is at least on the radar.
Baltimore could essentially sign him without spending a lot because of his struggles. Jones' $5.5 million base salary is tradable, and his 2027 guarantees don’t trigger until the offseason.
He’s roughly 11 months post-Achilles tear, so perhaps his play improves."
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk went a step further and argued the Vikings should make the move. "In Minnesota, Jones would be an immediate upgrade over Kyler Murray.
The difference between Jones vs. Murray could be more significant than the difference between Jonathan Taylor and Aaron Jones/Jordan Mason.
Which, if accurate, would result in a bigger overall bump to the offense."
Jones’ contract makes him movable, at least on paper. Spotrac has him counting $19.2 million against the Colts’ 2026 salary cap, and he is scheduled to count $46.8 million against the 2027 cap, though that would change if he is no longer with the team.
On the field, Jones has completed 60.4% of his passes for 1,542 yards with 5 touchdowns and 9 interceptions this season.
The NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Colts Just Locked In A Key Defender For What Comes Next
Adetomiwa Adebawores rise has given the Colts something they can actually plan around on the defensive front. A fourth-round pick in 2023, he has steadily worked his way into a more important role, and Indianapolis has now made it clear it views him as part of the long-term core rather than just another young lineman trying to find his footing.
The extension also says plenty about where the Colts think they need to go next up front. With the defensive tackle room set for a rebuild, locking in Adebawore gives the team a dependable starting point as it reshapes the interior of the defense, and it puts more pressure on the front office to find the right pieces around him. Colts Finally Made A Move Fans Can Feel Good About
After spending much of the season looking for stability up front, the Colts have made a move that should sit well with their fan base. Indianapolis has agreed to a contract extension with defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, rewarding a player who has taken a noticeable step forward this year in both pass-rushing and run defense.
Adebawores growth has given the Colts a more encouraging piece to build around on the defensive line, especially with his improved disruption in the backfield and steadier play against the run. For a team that has spent plenty of time searching for answers, keeping a young lineman trending in the right direction is the kind of decision that can make the rest of the roster feel a little more settled. Jonathan Taylor Trade Buzz Puts Colts In A Tough Spot
The trade deadline chatter around Jonathan Taylor has put the Colts in an awkward position, with the Giants reportedly showing interest in the running back as they look to address both their offense and defensive front. New York is also exploring other playmakers and linemen, but Taylor remains a name to watch because of the kind of impact he can still bring if a deal ever gets serious.
Indianapolis, though, is not in a position to move him cheaply. The Colts are believed to be asking for a steep return, which makes any potential agreement tricky even for a team actively shopping for help. For now, the buzz says as much about the market as it does about Taylor, and it leaves the Colts balancing roster value against the possibility of a deadline move that may never get close.
