Colts Fans Have Another Reason To Watch Marvin Harrison Jr. Closely

Intrigue builds as a mystery NFL team closes in on acquiring Arizona Cardinals' Marvin Harrison Jr., while the Colts watch from the sidelines.

The Indianapolis Colts are not the mystery team closing in on a trade for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., despite the league buzz building around a possible deal.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that an unidentified NFL team is finalizing a trade for Harrison Jr. this weekend, but both ESPN’s Stephen Holder and FOX59/CBS4’s Mike Chappell have said the Colts are not the club involved.

The asking price from Arizona has been part of the conversation, too. Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals had recently been seeking at least a second-round pick and more for the former No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Harrison Jr., though, is still only 24 years old despite what has been described as two-plus underwhelming seasons in Arizona.

Holder added that the Colts did have real interest in Harrison Jr., but not at the price Arizona was asking other teams to pay in order to get a deal done.

That has opened the door to speculation that the mystery team could be the Colts’ AFC South rival, the Houston Texans. If that ends up being the case, Harrison Jr. would be reuniting with former Ohio State teammate C.J. Stroud.

Through four games this season, the son of Hall of Fame Colts wideout Marvin Harrison Sr. has 5 catches for 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Even with that modest production, the Colts could certainly use help at receiver. Lead wideout Alec Pierce is out for the foreseeable future after reinjuring his heel, and the group has also been hit by injuries to Ashton Dulin, Keenan Allen, and Darius Slayton.

A second-round price tag might have been steep given Harrison Jr.’s current output and downward career trend, but it would still be a tough pill to swallow if he lands with Houston or another team in the mix.

Colts Get A Huge Chance To Change The Pittsburgh Narrative

With both the Colts and Steelers sitting at 2-2, Sundays matchup carries more weight than a typical early-season meeting. Indianapolis gets a chance to reset a difficult recent run against Pittsburgh, and the stakes go beyond just one win or loss. This is the kind of game that can start shaping playoff positioning before the calendar really turns, especially with each team still trying to find its footing.

The Colts have some built-in reasons to feel good about where they are. Their defense has been steady against the run and has held up well in key situations, while the offense has shown the ability to finish drives and stay on schedule. Pittsburgh brings its own identity, leaning on the ground game and a defense that has been difficult to deal with, so this one has the feel of a real measuring-stick game for Indianapolis, even before the bigger historical question around this series comes back into focus. Colts Fans Can Finally Cross One Trade Rumor Off The List

For a while, Marvin Harrison Jr. kept popping up in Colts conversations because of the obvious family ties and the natural local intrigue that comes with a player of that profile. But the latest reporting has helped clear at least one piece of the picture for Indianapolis fans, who had reason to wonder whether the wideout might somehow land in their orbit as Arizona works through a trade.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Cardinals are finalizing a deal for Harrison, with the move expected after this weeks games, and ESPNs Stephen Holder indicated the Colts are not the team getting him. The destination has not been officially confirmed, and Houston has been mentioned as a possible landing spot, leaving the rest of the league to wait while one of the bigger names on the board gets sorted out. DK Metcalf Just Gave Colts Fans A Reason To Watch Sauce Gardner

The Colts have a little extra edge heading into their next matchup thanks to DK Metcalf, who brushed off Sauce Gardner when asked about the challenge ahead. Metcalfs comments were pointed enough to make the matchup feel bigger than a typical late-season defensive assignment, especially for a Colts team that will be watching closely to see whether Gardner can rise to the moment.

There is reason for Indianapolis fans to be intrigued. Gardner has already shown he can bother Metcalf, limiting him in their last meeting, but his overall play this season has been uneven by the grading metrics. With Metcalf publicly treating the showdown like just another day, the spotlight now shifts to Gardner and whether he can answer with the kind of performance that changes the conversation.
