The Vikings are back from their bye with a clean shot to keep the run going, and the setup could hardly be better. Minnesota is 5-0 and 4-1 against the spread, with its only blemish coming as a -9.5 favorite in a 15-10 win over the Dolphins. On Sunday afternoon, the Colts come to town carrying far more baggage.
Indianapolis enters Week 7 at 2-4 after last week’s upset loss to the previously winless Titans. That was already coming on the heels of a 34-22 defeat in Pittsburgh on Oct. 11, so the Colts arrive on a two-game skid and with little momentum to lean on.
The betting market has nudged in Minnesota’s direction, with the spread moving up by half a point since opening. The total has gone the other way, dropping to 41.5 from 42.5.
SI Betting’s Iain MacMillan made the case that this is a brutal spot for Indianapolis in his Road to 272 Bets column. He wrote, "I'm starting to think the Colts are a bottom-three team in the NFL, but people haven't realized it yet.
Heading into Week 7, they're 31st in net yards per play (-1.3), 21st in EPA per play, and 28th in opponent EPA per play. Their only redeeming quality has been Jonathan Taylor.
If it wasn't for JT, their offensive numbers would be in the bottom five as well."
MacMillan also pointed to what he sees as a nightmare matchup for the Colts on the road. "If I close my eyes and think about this matchup, all I can envision is the Vikings' defense living in the Colts' backfield. Not only are they going to blitz Daniel Jones into oblivion, but they also lead the league in both opponent rush EPA and opponent rush success rate, meaning they're perfectly equipped to stop the one weapon Indianapolis has."
The concern for Minnesota, at least in his view, is on the offensive side. "The Vikings offense has me a bit concerned, but I'm hoping Kyler Murray can find some momentum after a BYE week."
He didn’t leave much room for optimism on Indianapolis, either. "This really is a horrible matchup for the Colts. They’ve lost two games in a row, including last week to the lowly Titans, and now have a road matchup against an undefeated team off their bye week."
And while MacMillan acknowledged Minnesota may not profile like some of the most dominant undefeated teams, he still landed firmly on the Vikings. "Now, the Vikings may not be as strong as some undefeated teams of the past through five games, but they’ve still shown to be much better than the Vikings. And you can only beat who you’re scheduled to play.
Minnesota deserves to be this big of a favorite out of its bye against the Colts."

Jonathan Taylor Knows What A 2-4 Colts Team Still Needs Most
With the Colts sitting at 2-4 and headed into a meeting with the Vikings, Jonathan Taylor is keeping the conversation where he wants it: on the field and on helping Indianapolis steady itself. The running back has been one of the teams bright spots early in the 2025 season, giving the offense a reliable centerpiece while the roster works to climb back into the mix.
Trade speculation can follow any productive player on a struggling team, but Taylor is not entertaining that noise as the season unfolds. He said his attention stays on winning with the Colts and doing right by the people around him, a stance that fits the urgency of a team trying to turn close attention into actual results. Anthony Richardson Puts Colts In Tough Spot With Off-Field Trouble
Anthony Richardsons latest off-field issue has put the Colts in an uncomfortable place as they try to keep their focus on football. The quarterback was involved in a traffic stop in Carmel, Indiana, and the team said it is gathering more information after learning of the situation.

Colts Get Encouraging Injury Shift Before Sundays Big Test
The injury picture around Sundays Colts-Vikings matchup brightened on Thursday, with both teams showing some encouraging movement in practice.
