Colts Bring Holiday Cheer to Indianapolis with Community Visits
The Indianapolis Colts took their winning spirit off the field and into the heart of the community Friday, delivering a dose of holiday magic to workers across central Indiana. With mascot “Blue” leading the charge and the Colts cheerleaders right beside him, the team made a series of surprise stops throughout the city - not to sign autographs or talk football, but to spread some much-needed joy.
From the bustling terminals of Indianapolis International Airport to the firehouses, police departments, and IndyGo transit hubs that keep the city moving, the Colts handed out Santa hats and heartfelt thanks. It was a simple gesture, sure, but one that resonated deeply with the folks who keep Indianapolis running - especially during the busiest time of the year.
The team also made a meaningful visit to Ascension St. Vincent’s main campus, where they met with health care workers who’ve been on the front lines day in and day out.
For hospital staff, the holidays can be a tough stretch - long hours, high stress, and patients in vulnerable states. That’s why this visit mattered.
“What we do in health care is really hard,” said Chad Dilley, president of Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis.
“You're taking care of patients, typically at their most vulnerable states, and it's important to uplift the spirits of the associates. Most people don't want to be in the hospital, and so it's great to have their spirits lifted when they're in the hospital and we can help them out along their journey.”
Moments like these go beyond football. They’re about connection - about a team showing up not just for fans in the stands, but for the people who make the city what it is. Whether it’s a nurse pulling a double shift or a firefighter heading out on a call, the Colts made sure they felt seen, appreciated, and part of something bigger.
No touchdowns, no highlight reels - just a team showing the kind of heart that defines a true community champion.
