Anthony Richardsons Colts Future Suddenly Carries Real Trade Deadline Stakes

Could trading for Anthony Richardson be the solution the Baltimore Ravens need to navigate their quarterback crisis?

Anthony Richardson’s name has suddenly landed in a spot nobody would have predicted a few weeks ago: as a possible fix for the Ravens’ quarterback mess.

Baltimore is scrambling after losing its top two quarterbacks to injury, including Lamar Jackson. Jackson missed several games earlier this season with a high ankle sprain, then on his first snap back in Week 8 he injured the thumb on his throwing hand and needed surgery.

In the same game, backup Tyler Huntley hurt his toe and is done for the season. That leaves the Ravens to turn to rookie Joe Fagnano, who went undrafted this year.

That kind of chaos is why Richardson has become a logical trade target. The Colts quarterback asked for a trade after the 2025 season because he had no path to starting this season, the final year of his rookie contract.

Whether he has rescinded that request or not, his role in Indianapolis has not changed. He is still backing up Daniel Jones, and Jones has been dreadful, yet head coach Shane Steichen has refused to make a switch.

With Indianapolis’ season already lost and the team having dealt two star players on expiring contracts, Richardson looks like the next piece that should move. A trade to Baltimore would line up cleanly with what the Ravens need and what Richardson does best.

Baltimore’s offense is built around Derrick Henry and a quarterback who can make plays with his legs, which makes Richardson a natural fit. The cost to get him should not be steep, with a Day 3 pick floated as a possible price. For the Colts, any return is useful, especially since Richardson likely will not be back in 2027.

There is also the simple reality of Richardson’s situation in Indianapolis. Why would he want to re-sign with a team that lost faith in him and never gave him a chance to start in a season when Jones has been so bad? He should want out, and free agency next year gives him that opening.

For Baltimore, the upside is obvious. If Richardson arrives in Maryland and plays well, he boosts his value heading into free agency.

If he doesn’t, the Ravens at least gave themselves a chance to find out. And if the team wants to keep leaning on its run-heavy identity, Richardson’s rushing power fits the plan even if questions remain about his passing accuracy.

The Ravens are 4-4, and the AFC North has turned into a tough road. That makes a swing at Richardson before the November 10 deadline look like a reasonable gamble. Indianapolis would keep building toward 2027 with more draft capital, Steichen would stop getting asked about a quarterback change he does not intend to make, and Baltimore would get a passer who matches its scheme.

Colts Just Locked In A Key Defender For What Comes Next

Adetomiwa Adebawores rise has given the Colts something they can actually plan around on the defensive front. A fourth-round pick in 2023, he has steadily worked his way into a more important role, and Indianapolis has now made it clear it views him as part of the long-term core rather than just another young lineman trying to find his footing.

The extension also says plenty about where the Colts think they need to go next up front. With the defensive tackle room set for a rebuild, locking in Adebawore gives the team a dependable starting point as it reshapes the interior of the defense, and it puts more pressure on the front office to find the right pieces around him. Colts Finally Made A Move Fans Can Feel Good About

After spending much of the season looking for stability up front, the Colts have made a move that should sit well with their fan base. Indianapolis has agreed to a contract extension with defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, rewarding a player who has taken a noticeable step forward this year in both pass-rushing and run defense.

Adebawores growth has given the Colts a more encouraging piece to build around on the defensive line, especially with his improved disruption in the backfield and steadier play against the run. For a team that has spent plenty of time searching for answers, keeping a young lineman trending in the right direction is the kind of decision that can make the rest of the roster feel a little more settled. Jonathan Taylor Trade Buzz Puts Colts In A Tough Spot

The trade deadline chatter around Jonathan Taylor has put the Colts in an awkward position, with the Giants reportedly showing interest in the running back as they look to address both their offense and defensive front. New York is also exploring other playmakers and linemen, but Taylor remains a name to watch because of the kind of impact he can still bring if a deal ever gets serious.

Indianapolis, though, is not in a position to move him cheaply. The Colts are believed to be asking for a steep return, which makes any potential agreement tricky even for a team actively shopping for help. For now, the buzz says as much about the market as it does about Taylor, and it leaves the Colts balancing roster value against the possibility of a deadline move that may never get close.
