Alec Pierce isn’t going anywhere, and Colts fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The talented wide receiver just inked a four-year, $116 million deal to stay in Indianapolis, even though he had the chance to chase bigger offers elsewhere. Pierce explored free agency but ultimately found staying with the Colts, especially alongside quarterback Daniel Jones, an easy decision.
Retaining the 25-year-old was a top priority for the Colts this offseason. Things got a bit playful on social media when Sauce Gardner jokingly suggested, “Should I lock Alec Pierce in my basement and force him to sign the contract papers?”
Pierce took the jest in stride. When asked about Gardner's comment after signing his deal, the former Cincinnati standout quipped, “I’ve been in there (basement) for the past two or three weeks. He has a golf simulator, so I’ve been working on the game a little bit, but other than that, it’s good to see some sunlight.”
Just to clarify, Gardner didn’t actually hold Pierce hostage.
The Colts had a promising start last season but stumbled towards the end, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. Despite being linked to teams like the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots, Pierce remains optimistic about the Colts' future.
“I believe in what we have going on here. I believe in our team.
I believe in the players we have in place,” Pierce told FOX59’s Mike Chappell. “I know we didn’t finish the way we wanted to finish, but I think I’m able to look back on that and look at how we were playing and know we can be the best team in the NFL.”

Clearly, Pierce’s confidence is shining brightly, and it’s not confined to any basement.
