Tyrese Haliburton Gets Honest On Brutal Shingles Battle

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton opens up about his unexpected battle with shingles while recovering from a torn Achilles, shedding light on the challenges he's facing off the court.

As the Indiana Pacers navigate the final stretch of the 2025-26 regular season, guard Tyrese Haliburton is facing a challenging time. Already sidelined due to a torn Achilles tendon, Haliburton has revealed he's also battling shingles. Just days after the Pacers snapped a grueling 16-game losing streak, they suffered a narrow 114-113 defeat to the LA Clippers, courtesy of a clutch game-winner by Kawhi Leonard.

Haliburton opened up about his shingles diagnosis in an interview with NBA on Prime's Nightcap. He described the ordeal that began with persistent headaches, leading him to seek medical attention in Indianapolis instead of joining his team in Washington, D.C.

“I had this crazy headache that just wouldn’t go away,” Haliburton shared. “I was supposed to meet the team, but I flew straight to Indy to see a doctor.

After some tests, the doctor quickly diagnosed me with shingles. It’s been rough-dealing with a rash on my face and even losing part of my eyebrow.

It’s no fun.”

Back in February, Haliburton was advised to take a two-to-three-week break from the team to recover from shingles. Despite the setback, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle remains optimistic about Haliburton's recovery.

“It’s a painful condition, but he’s expected to make a full recovery,” Carlisle confirmed. “He had some unusual symptoms when he was supposed to meet us in D.C. It’s a unique situation, but Tyrese is in good spirits and will get through it.”

Looking ahead, the Pacers are set to host the Miami Heat on Sunday, eager to bounce back and finish the season strong.
