Pascal Siakam brought some Halloween theater to the Indiana Pacers’ locker room, and he picked one of Rick Carlisle’s most memorable moments to pull it off.
During a recent press conference, Siakam showed up dressed as his head coach and recreated the famous April 2015 scene in which Carlisle taped up his mouth after being asked about officiating during a playoff game. The post, shared on X by SleeperPacers, showed Siakam leaning into the bit all the way, right down to the taped mouth and the bald cap.
“Are you asking me a question about the officiating?” Siakam said. “I brought this just for that.”
He didn’t stop there. Siakam copied Carlisle’s look and suit, and even worked to match the expression from the original press conference.
The moment Siakam was parodying came in April 2015, when Carlisle was coaching the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas was trying to avoid a series sweep and beat the Houston Rockets in Game 4.
Carlisle had already taken issue with the refereeing after Game 3, especially calls involving Dwight Howard, and that led to a $25,000 fine. When the officiating came up again after Game 4, he came prepared and used the tape to cover his mouth, which helped him avoid another fine.
On the court, the Pacers have had a mixed start to the 2026-27 NBA season at 2-2, but Siakam has been rolling. He’s averaging 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and four assists per game, and his production has stayed at an All-Star level.

Pacers Suddenly Have A Tyrese Haliburton Problem Before 76ers Game
The Pacers injury report is suddenly carrying more weight than usual ahead of their matchup with the 76ers, and Tyrese Haliburton is right at the center of it. Indiana listed the star guard as questionable with left hamstring tightness, a development that matters even more as the team tries to build momentum after a rough previous season and continues working Haliburton back into form following his torn Achilles.
Indiana is also dealing with several other injury concerns, leaving the rotation a little more unsettled than the matchup on paper might suggest. Philadelphia, by comparison, has a shorter list of absences with four players unavailable, so the Pacers may have to manage both the game plan and the roster picture at once before they even get to tipoff. Tyrese Haliburtons Absence Leaves Pacers Facing A Brutal Early Test
Tyrese Haliburtons left hamstring strain has put the Pacers in an early-season bind, and the bigger issue right now is the uncertainty around how long theyll have to navigate without their offensive engine. Haliburton, who signed a five-year extension in 2023, has been driving Indianas attack again this season, averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists while setting the pace for everything the team wants to do.
Indiana is already dealing with another major absence, with center Ivica Zubac sidelined by a left ankle injury, which only raises the degree of difficulty for a group trying to stay afloat while key pieces heal. For the Pacers, the challenge is not just replacing production, but reworking the rhythm of a team built around Haliburtons playmaking while waiting for a clearer picture on his return. [Read more 🡒]
Pacers Suddenly Have A Tyrese Haliburton Problem They Can't Ignore
Tyrese Haliburtons latest injury puts the Pacers in a difficult spot at a time when their backcourt depth is already being tested. The point guard has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and will be out for some time, leaving Indiana without its usual offensive organizer while the team waits for a clearer sense of the injurys severity.
Rick Carlisle said Haliburton will meet with team doctors and a hamstring specialist for further evaluation, which is the next step in figuring out how long this actually lingers. The timing is especially awkward because T.J. McConnell is also out with a hamstring strain, and Andrew Nembhard is questionable because of neck soreness, so Indiana suddenly has real questions to answer at guard if the absences keep piling up.
