Pascal Siakam gave Pacers fans something to cheer about Monday night, even if the final score didn’t go Indiana’s way.
Late in the third quarter against the Houston Rockets, Siakam delivered a fastbreak moment that reminded everyone why he's a four-time All-Star. After a Houston turnover, Indiana pushed the tempo, and Siakam capped the play with a powerful one-handed slam that brought the crowd to its feet. It was the kind of highlight that doesn’t just show up on the stat sheet - it speaks to the veteran forward’s energy and leadership during a tough stretch for the team.
Now in his 10th NBA season and third with the Pacers, Siakam continues to be a steadying presence amid a season riddled with injuries. His consistent production earned him his second consecutive All-Star nod as a Pacer, and plays like Monday’s dunk are a reminder of the impact he brings every night.
But despite Siakam’s efforts, Indiana couldn’t quite close the deal, falling 118-114 at home. The game was a back-and-forth battle, but the Rockets swung the momentum in their favor with a 37-point second quarter. That surge proved to be the difference, as Indiana spent the rest of the night trying - and ultimately failing - to claw their way back.
Siakam led the Pacers with 27 points on an efficient 12-of-21 shooting performance, including 2-of-3 from deep. He also added five assists, four rebounds, and a steal - a well-rounded line that once again highlighted his versatility on both ends of the floor.

Bennedict Mathurin followed with 25 points and five assists, showing flashes of the offensive aggression that makes him such an intriguing young piece for Indiana’s future. Aaron Nesmith chipped in 17 points and six boards, while rookie Jarace Walker added 12 points and four rebounds in a solid showing off the bench.
Still, the loss drops Indiana to 13-37 on the season, keeping them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings - just behind Washington and Brooklyn by a single game. It’s been a frustrating campaign for a team that had higher expectations heading into the year, but the hope is that with players like Siakam continuing to lead by example, there’s still time to build momentum in the second half.
The Pacers won’t have to wait long for their next opportunity. They’ll stay home to host the Utah Jazz on February 3rd, tipping off at 7 p.m.
ET. With Siakam playing at an All-Star level, Indiana will look to snap their skid and give the home crowd something more to celebrate - beyond just one highlight-reel dunk.
