Nick Dorn has been the spark Indiana men’s basketball needed for their late-season resurgence. With impressive wins over Rutgers, Purdue, and UCLA, the Hoosiers have reignited their NCAA Tournament hopes, thanks in large part to Dorn’s dynamic play.
A transfer from Elon, Dorn battled back from an offseason injury to become a pivotal perimeter threat. His 3-point shooting was crucial, complementing teammates Lamar Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries and providing Indiana with much-needed floor spacing. Dorn’s performances were electric, dropping 23 points at Rutgers, 18 against Purdue, and an eye-catching 26 at UCLA.
However, the sharpshooter has hit a rough patch, connecting on just four of his last 26 attempts from beyond the arc in the past four games. Despite this slump, Indiana head coach Darian DeVries remains optimistic. Speaking ahead of their upcoming clash with Purdue, DeVries emphasized the importance of persistence.
“He’s in a bit of a shooting slump, but the key is to keep shooting,” DeVries noted. “Nick’s a great shooter, and it’s only a matter of time before he has that breakout game again.”
DeVries also highlighted Dorn’s recent efforts to diversify his game by driving to the basket more frequently, showing growth in his overall play.
“For all our guys, staying confident is crucial,” DeVries added. “Trust in the work you’ve put in. Nick’s dedication is unwavering, and it’s bound to pay off.”
As the Hoosiers gear up for another showdown with Purdue, all eyes will be on Dorn to see if he can recapture his shooting touch and continue to propel Indiana forward.
