Indiana Hoosiers fans are facing another March without the excitement of the NCAA tournament. For the third straight year, the Hoosiers didn't make the cut, missing out on the 68-team lineup announced on the NCAA tournament selection show. With an 18-14 record, the team fell short in both the regular season and the Big Ten tournament.
Indiana was among the first four teams left out, alongside Oklahoma, Auburn, and San Diego State. Last year, the Hoosiers were also just shy of making the field, being the second team out.
Preseason predictions had Indiana pegged to finish 10th in the Big Ten, and that’s precisely where they landed. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure a spot in March Madness. The Hoosiers also opted out of participating in secondary postseason tournaments like the Crown or the NIT, marking the end of their 2025-26 season and kicking off the offseason.
The last time Indiana danced in the NCAA tournament was in 2023, when they reached the round of 32 under coach Mike Woodson. That run ended with a loss to Miami (FL) in Albany, New York, with a final score of 85-69.
Looking ahead, Indiana is bracing for a significant roster shake-up. With six seniors graduating and other changes expected, Coach Darian DeVries will likely be busy retooling the lineup for his second season in Bloomington.
Meanwhile, the Big Ten is well-represented in this year’s tournament, with nine teams making the cut: Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois, Michigan State, Ohio State, Iowa, UCLA, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
As the transfer portal opens on April 7, all eyes will be on the Hoosiers to see how they plan to rebuild and come back stronger next season.
