A leaked group chat is making the rounds and putting Michigan’s offensive operation under a harsh spotlight.
Screenshots that surfaced on X through the collegefbportal account allegedly show Wolverines tight end Zack Marshall taking shots at the coaching staff and the offense’s direction. In one exchange, a reply to a joke about Beck calling tight ends useless says, “He had a meeting w all the tights and told us none of us are valuable to this offense.” The post identifies that message as Marshall’s, though the sender’s name is blurred in the image.
Another screenshot goes further, saying Michigan has “no answers” against the blitz. It also claims the offense leans on an extra offensive lineman and runs versions of power read on every play.
The writer adds “Bryce is a good qb, beck is a problem.” The message closes with a warning that it should stay private.
A third screenshot compares the current situation to the Sherrone Moore era and says it is “Way worse.” None of the three screenshots mentions Whittingham. Beck is Michigan’s offensive coordinator, and the messages also refer to quarterback Bryce Underwood, claiming Beck tells him where to throw on every play.
The alleged leak cuts against what Marshall said earlier this year. In May, he described Beck’s system much differently, saying on a podcast, according to On3, “It’s so different than anything we’ve had before,”
Marshall caught 16 passes for 199 yards last season.
The timing of the screenshots lands in the middle of a rough stretch for Michigan. Minnesota beat the Wolverines 20-14 on October 3, this Saturday, dropping them to 0-2 in Big Ten play for the first time since 2014.
Underwood went 10 of 21 for 101 yards with two interceptions, while Michigan managed just 79 rushing yards on 28 carries. The loss was Michigan’s first in Minneapolis since 1977.
After the game, Whittingham said the offense is searching for answers. “There’s a disconnect,” he said, according to On3’s press conference summary.
He also asked “What is the reason? We’ve got to figure it out.”
Whittingham acknowledged Beck’s track record but still said the results are unacceptable.
Underwood’s status has already been a talking point this season. Whittingham warned him about job security in September after the Western Michigan game.
For now, the screenshots remain unverified, and the images do not identify the senders. Still, the reaction online has been immediate, with fans on X arguing over whether the leak is real and who might have put it out there.
Michigan heads into its bye week with plenty to sort through. Whittingham said the break comes at a good time to examine possible offensive changes, and he plans to sit down with the whole offense and gather input from everyone. He also said he will meet with Beck and evaluate which players give Michigan the best chance to win.
The numbers underline how much work is ahead. Through five games, Sports Illustrated reports Michigan ranks No. 122 in total offense at 315.8 yards per game. The Wolverines are 3-2 overall.

Indianas Ohio State Showdown Just Lost The Atmosphere Fans Wanted
Indianas next two weeks shape up as a major test, with Curt Cignettis team first seeing Nebraska in Week 6 before turning to a much bigger appointment in Week 7 against Ohio State. The Buckeyes game has all the ingredients to feel like one of the marquee dates on the schedule, especially with a Top-10 matchup on deck and plenty of attention sure to follow the Hoosiers into that stretch.
The only catch is the start time. FOXs Big Noon Kickoff slot means the showdown at Noon ET, which takes some of the edge off what could have been a truly electric scene in Bloomington. A night setting would have given the game a different kind of intensity, and fans will be left imagining how much louder and more charged the atmosphere might have been under the lights. Indiana Just Landed The Kind Of Recruit Fans Have Been Waiting For
The early years of a new era on the recruiting trail can say plenty, and Indiana just got a big one. Darius Wabbington, a 2027 five-star center and the No. 13 overall prospect in his class, has committed to the Hoosiers, giving Darian DeVries his highest-ranked recruit and his first five-star pledge since taking over in Bloomington.
Wabbington picked Indiana over Arizona and Illinois, a notable win in a race that drew plenty of attention. His size, skill set and long-term NBA upside make him the kind of frontcourt piece that can change the conversation around a recruiting class, and he joins a group that already includes other top prospects as DeVries continues to build momentum. Urban Meyer Just Gave Ohio State Fans A New Indiana Debate
Indianas rise under Curt Cignetti has become one of the sports more interesting storylines, and the Hoosiers have done enough through five games to force the rest of the Big Ten to take them seriously. At 5-0 and sitting at No. 7, they have already put themselves in a position no one would have expected a couple of years ago, with a schedule that still includes ranked matchups against Ohio State and USC while avoiding Oregon.
Urban Meyers latest comments just added another layer to the conversation, and it is the kind of skepticism Indiana is likely to keep hearing until it proves itself against the leagues top tier. Meyer questioned how much weight should be given to wins over lower-level opponents, which only sharpens the pressure on the Hoosiers as they move deeper into a slate that will decide whether this start is just a nice story or something far more substantial.
