Indiana basketball is taking a different look to Peru later this month, and fans got a first glimpse of it this week.
A sneak peek of the combined Team USA and IU uniforms showed up on social media, revealing Adidas gear that will have USA across the front, along with the IU logo and the American flag placed in multiple spots.
The Hoosiers are headed to Lima for the FISU America Games, which run from July 20 to August 1. A full game schedule has not been released yet, but the event is expected to feature pool play before tournament action begins.
Indiana will represent the United States in a field that includes teams from Peru, Brazil, Argentina and other nations. The Hoosiers are expected to play five to six games in Lima. Centers Samet Yigitoglu and Clemens Sokolov will not be eligible to participate because they are not American citizens.
To get ready for the international setting, Indiana has been practicing recently with FIBA international basketballs.
Before the trip, the Hoosiers will play an exhibition against Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, a secondary school from Montreal, Quebec, on Wednesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. ET at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
The game will be open to the public, with doors set to open at 5:30 p.m. ET and free parking available around the facility at Gates 2, 4, 12 and 14.
The FISU America Games, an international competition for university students, began in 2018 and are held every two years. The event is designed to promote sports participation while encouraging cultural and academic exchange among young people from countries across the American continent.
