Indiana basketball’s first July evaluation period is officially in full swing, and Darian DeVries is wasting no time getting around. He and his staff were out on the road Thursday and are back at it today, with the second day of the period giving college coaches access to more of the biggest live events on the calendar.
The adidas 3SSB event in Bryan, Texas, was off-limits to college coaches on Thursday, but that changes today through Sunday. The Nike EYBL session is also underway Wednesday through Saturday, with Thursday through Saturday open to college coaches. DeVries is expected to be joined by assistants Drew Adams, Kenny Johnson, Thomas Carr and Rod Clark as Indiana spreads its coverage across multiple stops to evaluate prospects and potential prospects.
One of the names already on Indiana’s board was in action Thursday. Combo guard commit Chase Branham, the No. 22 player in the country in the 2027 class, plays for KC Run GMC on the Under Armour circuit in Cartersville, Georgia.
Branham and KC Run GMC opened the week with a 75-60 win over Seattle Select, and DeVries was there to see it. KC Run GMC is now 8-1 on the season, with its only loss coming by two points.
Peegs.com’s Trevor Andershock and Jeff Rabjohns have been traveling since Wednesday and will remain on the road through Sunday to track the recruiting action and report on the prospects drawing attention at the events.

As the third commitment in IUs 2026 class, he has been getting a head start on college life while the team gets ready for its trip to Lima, Peru, for the FISU America Games, and he spent part of a recent media session talking through the adjustment, the staff around him and the way he sees his own game fitting in.
Manhertz said the biggest change so far has been the physicality of college basketball, but he also sounded encouraged by the support system he has found on campus. He pointed to the coaching staff and to teammates such as Trent Sisley and Markus Burton as people helping him settle in, and the upcoming international run should give him and IU an early chance to build chemistry in a real game setting before the seasons bigger questions arrive.
