Indiana’s 2026-27 nonconference schedule is taking shape, and one of the more notable additions is a first-time visit from UCF.
The Hoosiers will host the Knights at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday, Dec. 12, according to the schedule UCF released Monday. It will be the first men’s basketball meeting between the schools.
UCF arrives from the Big 12 with Johnny Dawkins heading into his 11th season as head coach. The Knights went 21-12 in 2025-26 and earned a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to UCLA in the first round.
That team has been reshaped quite a bit. UCF lost several of its key scorers from last season, including Riley Kugel, who averaged 14.4 points per game, Themus Fulks at 14.0, and Jordan Burks at 13.3. The Knights finished No. 59 in Torvik a year ago, with the No. 45 offense and No. 103 defense.
The most proven returning piece is 7-foot-2 John Bol, who led the returnees with 5.9 points per game.
Dawkins also brought in five transfers who were double-digit scorers at their previous stops: Dior Johnson, who averaged 24.0 points per game at Tarleton State; Lewis Walker, who put up 18.9 at North Carolina A&T; Isaiah Malone, who scored 10.5 at Florida Gulf Coast; Cayden Vasko, who posted 10.4 at Wofford; and Mister Dean, who averaged 10.3 at Charleston.
UCF becomes the fifth high-major nonconference opponent on Indiana’s slate. The Hoosiers will also play Syracuse, Arkansas and Kentucky on neutral courts, and they are scheduled to host Missouri as well.

Lee Beebe is back on the practice field for Indiana after spending the better part of a year working his way back from the knee injury he suffered last September. The redshirt senior running back says he feels fully recovered, which is an encouraging development for a Hoosiers offense that has made the ground game a priority under Curt Cignetti.
Beebe is expected to join Khobie Martin and Turbo Richard in what should become a three-man rotation in the backfield, giving Indiana another experienced option as it looks to keep its rushing attack rolling. The bigger question now is how quickly Beebe can reestablish himself in live action, because his return could add another layer to a unit the Hoosiers are counting on to stay productive. Indiana has already put itself in the thick of the race for Nasir Anderson, one of the top high school guards in the class of 2027. The five-star prospect has trimmed his list to 10 schools, and Indiana is among the programs still standing for a player whose size, athleticism and all-around skill set have made him one of the most coveted names in the cycle.
For the Hoosiers, the appeal is obvious, but the fit comes with a wrinkle. Anderson would be joining a backcourt that already has an established starting point guard in place, which could shape both his role and the way Indiana pitches its long-term vision. Indiana Fans Just Got An Exciting Glimpse Of Their Future Passing Game
The high school football season in Indiana opened with a matchup that gave Hoosiers fans an early look at a couple of future pieces, as Brownsburg and Lawrence North featured Indiana commits Branden Sharpe and Monshun Sales. Sharpe made the bigger splash, turning in a strong outing with 4 catches for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns as Brownsburg rolled to a 48-25 win.
Sales also got involved for Lawrence North, finishing with 2 catches for 12 yards while spending time at safety as well. For Indiana, it was the kind of early-season snapshot that can be easy to overlook in the broader college calendar, but it still offered a glimpse of the kind of athleticism and versatility the program is bringing in on the perimeter.
