Indiana has added another international big man to its future frontcourt, landing German center Felix Kiehlneker in the class of 2027.
Kiehlneker, who is now listed at around 7-foot-1, committed to Indiana after taking official visits to Bloomington and USC. Florida, UCLA, Clemson and UConn were also involved in his recruitment.
He was one of the prospects Indiana assistant coach Drew Adams evaluated during international trips in July and August, and the Hoosiers came away with the commitment today.
Kiehlneker is expected to start this season for a ProA team in Germany, and he already flashed what he can do in a recent pro league game with 14 points and seven rebounds. He has also played at the ProB level in Germany and suited up for the German U18 national team in 2026.
The early read on Kiehlneker is the kind of profile coaches like to dream on: coordinated, mobile, and capable of catching entry passes cleanly. He’s considered a high-upside prospect who will need time to adjust to the high-major level, but he projects as at least a power-4 contributor down the road and possibly much more.
His development track has already drawn attention from NBA scouts, who have watched him closely and believe he could grow into an NBA prospect in a few years.
The numbers back up the intrigue. In 12 games with Ulm BBU during the 2025-26 season, Kiehlneker averaged 8.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks while shooting 68.9 percent on 2-pointers, going 0-for-7 from deep and hitting 62.2 percent of his free throws. He played 23.5 minutes per game.
On the Germany-NBBL circuit with Ulm, he posted 10.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 15 games. He shot 64.7 percent from 2-point range, made 1 of 3 from 3-point territory and connected on 65.2 percent of his free throws, again logging 23.5 minutes per contest.
Kiehlneker joins Chase Branham in Indiana’s 2027 class. Branham, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from La Lumiere, is ranked No. 24 nationally in the 2027 cycle.
Indiana’s latest addition also fits a pattern. The Hoosiers recently recruited another German center, Clemens Sokolov, a 7-footer who is now a freshman on this year’s IU team.

Indiana is moving ahead with a significant step in the long-term upkeep of Memorial Stadium, as the universitys Board of Trustees Executive Committee unanimously approved a $40 million renovation plan for the west bowl. The work is aimed at modernizing one of the stadiums most visible fan spaces, with upgrades designed to address infrastructure needs that have built up over time.
The project will add and renovate restroom and concession facilities, including 225 new bathrooms, while also updating existing spaces to meet ADA standards.
