Darian DeVries has Indiana in the mix for one of the biggest names in the 2027 class, and that alone is enough to turn heads in Bloomington.
Nasir Anderson, a 6'3" 220-pound point guard from Savannah, GA, is now down to 10 schools in his recruitment, and Indiana made the cut. Rivals has Anderson ranked as the No. 2 point guard and the No. 7 overall player in the country, which gives the Hoosiers a real shot at landing a centerpiece talent if things keep trending their way.
Anderson’s finalists are Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The next move in the process is official visits, though Anderson has not set any dates yet. Those are expected to come sooner rather than later as his recruitment picks up steam.
There’s also a major development in where Anderson will play his high school basketball next. After spending his sophomore season at Norcross High School, he is set to transfer to Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, FL for his junior year. Anderson also dealt with a hip injury earlier this summer as he works toward getting back to full strength for that important season.
For Indiana, this is the kind of recruitment that can shift the conversation. DeVries has already added a promising 2026 class featuring four-star prospects Vaughn Karvala, Prince-Alexaner Moody, and Trevor Manhertz, all of whom impressed at the FISU America Games earlier this summer and could be ready to help in the upcoming season.
Landing Anderson would be a different level of win. It would give DeVries a chance to secure his first 5-star high school commit at Indiana, and doing it while beating out programs like Kentucky, North Carolina, and UConn would carry plenty of weight.
DeVries could use the boost. In his first season in Bloomington, Indiana finished 18-14 overall and 9-11 in Big Ten play, then closed the year on a 1-6 skid. The Hoosiers missed the NCAA Tournament as part of a bubble field that was among the worst in recent memory, leaving plenty of frustration behind.
Florida is another team to keep an eye on in this chase. Anderson’s move to Prolific Prep puts him closer to Gainesville, and the Gators under Todd Golden have been a force, just two seasons removed from winning a National Championship.
