Indiana’s 2027 recruiting class just got a big boost-literally and figuratively.
Curt Cignetti and his staff secured a commitment from in-state offensive lineman Jeremiah Jones, a 6-foot-6, 271-pound tackle out of Michigan City High School. Jones becomes the fifth pledge in the Hoosiers’ 2027 class and, notably, the first in-state product to join the group.
For Indiana, this is more than just another name on the commit list. Landing a player of Jones' size and pedigree from within state lines is a statement-especially for a program looking to re-establish its presence in local recruiting battles.
Jones chose the Hoosiers over offers from Miami (OH), Toledo, and Western Michigan. While those programs have their merits, Indiana’s pitch-backed by a new coaching staff and a vision for the future-clearly resonated with the standout junior.
He was on campus for Junior Day and didn’t leave empty-handed. During the visit, Indiana extended an offer-and Jones didn’t waste much time making his decision.
“It went amazing,” Jones said of his time in Bloomington. “I had an absolute blast.”
The offer itself carried serious weight for the young lineman.
“I got offered by them,” he said. “I’m really blessed for this opportunity.”
That excitement isn’t just about the scholarship-it’s about the chance to be part of something bigger. Jones is coming off a stellar junior campaign in which he earned All-State honors from the Indiana Football Coaches Association. That recognition speaks volumes about his performance on the field and his potential at the next level.
At 6'6", Jones brings the kind of frame college coaches dream about. He’s long, athletic, and has the tools to develop into a cornerstone on the offensive line. For Indiana, a program that’s looking to build from the trenches out, this is the kind of foundational piece that can help shape a recruiting class-and eventually, a roster.
There’s still a long road between now and Signing Day, but for now, the Hoosiers have reason to celebrate. They’ve landed a high-upside, homegrown talent who’s already showing signs of being a difference-maker. And for Jones, the journey to Big Ten football begins right at home.
