Indiana and Nebraska will meet Saturday in Lincoln with a lot more than unbeaten records on the line - and a lot more than just football weather to deal with.
The Hoosiers and Cornhuskers both arrive at 5-0 and 2-0 in conference play for FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff, set for 12 p.m. ET.
The temperature is expected to feel far less like October and much more like July, with Lincoln forecast to reach around 88 degrees. The hottest stretch should come in the second half, and rain is not expected to be a factor.
Wind, though, could be.
Forecasts call for steady 15-25 mph gusts, which could matter in several phases of the game, especially on special teams. Nebraska has already had kicking troubles this season, with Kyle Cunanan missing three of six field goal tries and an extra point.
Indiana’s Nico Radicic, usually dependable, missed an extra point - his first miss in 170 attempts - and a short field goal in last week’s win at Rutgers. Even the punt game may be affected, with the wind capable of either holding balls up or pushing them farther downfield.
Indiana has also muffed two punts and a kickoff this season, so handling the conditions could be tricky.
On the field, Indiana’s latest win kept the program rolling. The Hoosiers beat Rutgers last Saturday to extend their winning streak to 21 games, the longest in the country since Georgia won 29 straight from 2021-23 and the longest in the Big Ten since Ohio State’s 23-game run from 2013-14.
That Rutgers win also showed off just how many ways Indiana can hurt a defense. The Hoosiers became the first Big Ten team since at least 1995 to post two 100-yard rushers and two 100-yard receivers in the same conference game. Turbo Richard ran for 204 yards and Lee Beebe Jr. added 122 on the ground, while Charlie Becker finished with 107 receiving yards and Nick Marsh had 120.
Saturday will be the 24th all-time meeting between Indiana and Nebraska. The Hoosiers lead the series 11-9-3, and the teams have split their four matchups as Big Ten foes. Nebraska won in 2016 and 2022, while Indiana took the last two in 2019 and 2024.
Both teams are among just 15 undefeated programs left in the country. For Indiana, it will be the third FOX game of the season, and the Hoosiers are 2-0 in the first two.

Indiana Heads Into A Huge Road Test Nebraska Desperately Needs
Nebraskas matchup with No. 7 Indiana brings an attention-grabbing Big Ten backdrop, but it also carries a bit of history for the home side. This is Nebraskas first chance since 2016 to knock off an AP Top 25 opponent, which gives the game some extra weight beyond the usual conference stakes. Curt Cignetti has already signaled he is looking forward to the test, and Indiana enters knowing it is walking into a road environment that should tell plenty about where both teams stand.
A big part of the challenge comes from Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who has grown into a dual-threat presence and gives Matt Rhules offense a different layer to solve. Rhule even drew a parallel to some former Nebraska greats while talking about Colandreas role, a sign of how central he has become to the game plan. Indiana, meanwhile, brings a defense and an offense that have earned respect, which is why this one feels like more than a ranked-vs.-unranked matchup and more like a real measuring stick for both programs. Indiana Just Showed How Dangerous This Team Can Really Be
Homecoming at SHI Stadium turned into a showcase for just how explosive Indiana can be when everything starts clicking. Josh Hoover was sharp and efficient, completing 20 of 27 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns, while the Hoosiers kept Rutgers on its heels by mixing in a ground game that never let the Scarlet Knights settle in.
Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. were part of a rushing attack that piled up 329 yards, and the line play on both sides helped set the tone from the start. When Indiana is winning up front like this, the offense can stretch a game in a hurry, and the defense has the kind of support that can make the whole operation look a lot more dangerous. Indiana Fans Just Got Their First Real Clue About This Seasons Stage
Indiana fans now have their first real sense of how the 2026-27 mens basketball season will unfold on the calendar, with the Big Ten releasing tip times and TV designations for the league slate. For Indiana, that means a spread of visibility across BTN, B1G+, FOX, FS1, Peacock/NBCSN and CBS, plus a clearer picture of when preseason and regular-season games will land on the schedule.
The release also puts the conference tournament back in Indianapolis, where the Big Ten will stage its postseason showcase at Gainbridge Fieldhouse from March 9-14, 2027. For IU supporters, it is the kind of early roadmap that helps turn an empty offseason into something more tangible, even if the real intrigue will come later, when those announced windows start to meet the expectations surrounding the Hoosiers.
