Indiana looked every bit like the stronger team on Saturday, rolling past Howard 55-0 and getting the kind of complete performance that had been missing a week earlier. The Hoosiers moved to 2-0 with clear progress on both sides of the ball: the run game found its rhythm, the defense forced stops, and the second half turned into extended work for the backups.
The scoring started quickly. Josh Hoover hit Charlie Becker on a 34-yard touchdown early, and Becker made the most of his chances all afternoon.
He finished with three catches, and every one of them went for a touchdown. Through two games, he already has five touchdowns.
Indiana’s biggest edge, though, came on the ground. Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. combined for 225 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries, giving the offense a physical, efficient base to build on. Hoover didn’t need to throw much, attempting just 11 passes before the reserves took over.
That ground success opened everything else up. Hoover later found Shazz Preston for a 39-yard touchdown that pushed Indiana ahead 20-0 in the first quarter. When Grant Wilson entered, the pattern held: Nick Marsh slipped free for a 51-yard touchdown catch.
The defense also delivered a much cleaner day. Indiana’s front created pressure, and Rolijah Hardy turned that into a pick six. It took a few drives before the Hoosiers got to the quarterback for a sack, but they still finished with five sacks and 12 tackles for loss.
By the end, this was the kind of lopsided win Indiana expected to show in Week 1. The Hoosiers controlled the game from start to finish and kept the shutout intact with backups handling most of the second half.
