Indiana Basketball Targets Top 2028 Point Guard With Bold New Offer

Indiana targets the future with a key offer to a rising point guard star already drawing national attention.

Indiana’s coaching staff is wasting no time laying the groundwork for the future, and their latest move shows they’re aiming high. The Hoosiers have officially extended a scholarship offer to Michai White - the top-ranked point guard in the high school class of 2028, according to the 247Sports Composite.

White, who currently suits up for Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, is quickly becoming a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. Indiana joins a growing list of programs hoping to land the dynamic guard, with Louisville, Northwestern, and Stanford already in the mix. But make no mistake - this is still early in the process, and Indiana is positioning itself as one of the first major players in White’s recruitment.

Before transferring to Brewster, White spent his freshman season at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey - a program known for producing top-tier talent.

His move to Brewster puts him in elite company. The school has a strong track record of developing high-level prospects, with alumni like Donovan Mitchell, TJ Warren, Matas Buzelis, Devin Carter, and current Indiana forward Reed Bailey all having passed through its doors.

And there’s more than just Bailey linking Indiana to Brewster. The Hoosiers’ staff has a few deeper ties to the program.

Mason Moses, a former Brewster guard, played under Kenny Johnson at Georgetown last season. Meanwhile, Tennessee forward JP Estrella signed with the Volunteers when Rod Clark - now on Indiana’s staff - was part of their coaching team.

These connections could prove valuable as Indiana looks to build a relationship with White and his camp.

This offer to White marks the third known scholarship Indiana has handed out in the 2028 class - and it’s clear they’re targeting elite talent. The other two offers are to a pair of 5-star small forwards: AJ Williams from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in McDonogh, Georgia, and Colton Hiller out of Coatesville Area Senior High School in Pennsylvania.

It’s still very early in the 2028 recruiting cycle, but Indiana is already making moves that suggest a clear strategy: identify top-tier talent early, build strong relationships, and lean on existing connections to stay ahead of the curve. With White now on their radar - and an offer in hand - the Hoosiers are signaling that they’re not just planning for the future; they’re actively shaping it.
