Indiana Basketball Stuns Fans by Declining All Postseason Opportunities

Despite a promising mid-season record, Indiana's basketball team faces another year without an NCAA Tournament appearance, as new coach Darian DeVries wraps up his challenging first season.

Indiana's men's basketball team has wrapped up the 2025-26 season, and it's been a rollercoaster ride. Under the new leadership of Darian DeVries, the Hoosiers missed out on an NCAA Tournament bid, as confirmed during the Selection Show.

Back in mid-February, things were looking promising with a 17-8 record, but a late-season slump saw them drop six of their last seven games, including two tough losses to Northwestern. They ended the season 18-14, just missing the tournament cut.

This season's outcome leaves DeVries with one fewer win than his predecessor, Mike Woodson, managed in each of his final two seasons. In a surprising move, Indiana has also decided to pass on invitations to the NIT and the College Basketball Crown, as confirmed by a program spokesperson. This decision officially closes the book on their 2025-26 campaign.

It's been a tough decade for the Hoosiers, with this marking their eighth season out of the last ten without an NCAA Tournament appearance. The 2020 team was on track to make the tournament before the pandemic hit, but that feels like little comfort to a program striving to reclaim its former glory.
