Curt Cignetti has the Indiana Hoosiers riding high after a historic National Championship win, and the future looks just as promising. With an eye on the 2028 recruiting class, Indiana is zeroing in on standout 4-star tight end, Devyn Severson.
Severson has become one of the hottest prospects, boasting over 20 offers from top-tier Power 4 programs nationwide. Indiana seems to have carved out a competitive edge in this recruitment race.
Severson, a top talent in the 2028 class, has scheduled three key visits this spring, with Indiana fans thrilled to see Bloomington on his itinerary. He’ll visit the Hoosiers on April 14, sandwiched between trips to Illinois on April 13 and Notre Dame on April 15.
Hailing from Madrid, Iowa, Severson is making waves as potentially the best tight end in his class. Ranked by 247Sports as a 4-star prospect, he sits at No. 58 overall and is the No. 2 tight end in the nation for 2028. He's also the top player in Iowa, adding to his impressive resume.
Although more visits are likely to be added to his schedule, Indiana’s recent success under Cignetti could be pivotal in keeping Severson interested. Cignetti has expertly balanced using the transfer portal with high school recruiting, securing a top-20 recruiting class for 2026 and bringing in 17 transfers. His efforts for 2027 are already underway, featuring four recruits, led by 4-star cornerback Monsanna Torbet Jr.
With Cignetti at the helm, Indiana's recruiting prowess and strategic roster building could make Bloomington an appealing destination for Severson and other top recruits.
