Indiana women's basketball is experiencing a significant shift as sophomore guard Chloe Spreen becomes the fourth player to enter the transfer portal. This news, shared by On3’s Talia Goodman, marks another change for the Hoosiers as they look to reshape their roster.
Spreen, hailing from Bedford, Indiana, had a brief stint with the Hoosiers after transferring from Alabama for the 2025-26 season. Despite her accolades as the 2024 Indiana Ms. Basketball and a four-star recruit, Spreen found it challenging to secure playing time both at Indiana and previously with the Crimson Tide.
In her sophomore year, Spreen saw limited action, appearing in just 11 games, including four Big Ten matchups, and averaging 4.5 minutes per game. Her standout performance came during a nonconference game against Western Carolina, where she logged a season-high 16 minutes and contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
Her time at Alabama during the 2024-25 season was similarly sparse, with Spreen participating in 20 games and averaging 6.5 minutes, 1.2 points, and 0.5 rebounds per game.
Joining Spreen in the transfer portal are sophomore forward Faith Wiseman, sophomore guard Phoenix Stotijn, and junior forward Jade Ondineme, indicating a period of transition for Indiana.
The Hoosiers concluded their season with an 18-14 record, including a 6-12 mark in Big Ten play. Looking ahead, Indiana is poised to welcome a highly-touted recruiting class, ranked eighth nationally by ESPN. This incoming group features standout players like No. 28 wing Addison Nyemchek, No. 32 guard Gigi Battle, No. 64 guard Ashlinn James, and four-star center Zoe Jackson, promising a fresh infusion of talent for the program.
