Indiana’s offense has found its alpha early, and Charlie Becker is making it look easy.
Through three games, the junior wideout has been the kind of boundary nightmare defenses dread all week and still can’t solve on Saturdays. At 6-4 and 208 pounds, Becker brings the kind of size that turns contested throws into his playground, and Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover has leaned into that immediately after arriving from TCU.
The production has been loud from the start. In Indiana’s first three wins, Becker has caught 12 passes for 272 yards and six total receiving touchdowns, good for an eye-popping 22.7 yards per catch. That kind of efficiency is hard to miss, but the way he’s getting there is what stands out: he’s not just piling up volume, he’s turning limited chances into major damage.
He opened the season against North Texas with four catches for 64 yards and two scores in a 52-16 win. Against Howard, he was even more efficient, grabbing three passes for 81 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in a blowout shutout. Then came his biggest explosion yet against Western Kentucky, where he led the offense with five receptions for 127 yards and a 79-yard touchdown in a 38-0 win.
Becker’s value goes beyond the box score. Hoover has a receiver he can trust on the outside, one who can win against single coverage and give him confidence to attack downfield.
That, in turn, creates room for the rest of Indiana’s passing game, including Nick Marsh and Tyler Morris, who have both had solid starts of their own. It also helps the ground game by pulling defenders out of the box, giving Lee Beebe Jr. and Turbo Richard more space to work.
For Indiana, that combination has been a major reason the offense has looked so dangerous. Becker’s blend of size, route polish, and ball tracking has made him a problem on all three levels, and his early-season scoring binge has only reinforced how central he is to what the Hoosiers are doing in 2026.
