Illinois football is gearing up for spring practices, but they'll be doing so without a full roster. Head Coach Bret Bielema has outlined a number of injuries affecting the team, but there's a silver lining: none of these injuries are expected to impact the fall camp or the upcoming season.
Coach Bielema reassured fans, stating, "Where we stand right now, there isn't going to be anybody limited in fall camp or into the fall season." This means the team should be at full strength when it matters most.
For now, three projected starters-defensive backs Matthew Bailey and Xavier Scott, along with linebacker James Kreutz-will be taking it easy during the spring. However, it's not just these starters; several other players from the two-deep roster will also be affected.
As spring practice kicks off, the focus will be on managing these injuries carefully while still getting valuable reps for the rest of the squad. The team is looking to build on their strengths and ensure everyone is ready to hit the ground running come fall.
