The Arizona Cardinals are moving on from Marvin Harrison Jr., and the league is already buzzing about where the former top-10 pick ends up.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported that Arizona has informed Harrison he is being traded and will not play Sunday against Detroit while the deal is being finalized. For now, though, the destination is still unofficial. Schefter said the trade won’t be completed until after Sunday’s games are played.
“Breaking: the Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a deal to trade WR Marvin Harrison, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport),” Schefter wrote. “The team informed Harrison this morning that he will be inactive for Sunday’s game vs Detroit as details of the trade are finalized.”
“But no Harrison trade will be completed until after Sunday’s games are played,” Schefter added.
The strongest early rumor points to the Houston Texans. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio said the chatter around the league is that Harrison could land in Houston and be reunited with former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.
“The current chatter in league circles is that Harrison will land in Houston, where he’d be reunited with former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud,” Florio said.
Schefter later backed up that Houston is in the mix, reporting that the Texans have been part of trade discussions with Arizona.
“One team that has had Marvin Harrison trade talks with Arizona is Houston, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport),” Schefter said. “Houston has been, and is thought to be, square in the mix for Harrison.”
When asked directly, a Texans source told Schefter, “I can’t confirm or deny at this time," a Texans source said to Schefter.
One team that appears to be out of the picture is Indianapolis. ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that the Colts will not be making a trade for Harrison.
A move to Houston would fit the need, too. The Texans are looking for more help at wide receiver, and the Stroud connection gives the rumor some real weight.
For now, that’s where things stand: Harrison is headed out of Arizona, Houston is the name to watch, and the final word is still coming.

Texans Suddenly Have A New Concern Ahead Of Titans Showdown
Aireontae Erserys status became a late-week concern for the Texans after the starting left tackle missed Fridays practice because of an illness ahead of Sundays matchup with the Titans. Houston is still searching for its first win of the season at 0-4, and any change up front is especially worth watching for an offense that has already had plenty to sort through.
Erserys availability is still uncertain, leaving the Texans with the possibility of having to reshuffle their offensive line on short notice. Against a Tennessee front that can make life difficult, Houston would prefer as much stability as possible in front of its quarterback, and this situation adds another layer of pressure heading into a game the Texans badly need to find a way to win. Texans Depth Chart Just Got More Complicated Before Titans Game
The Texans Week 5 preparation for Tennessee got a little busier after a flurry of roster moves that reshaped the bottom and middle of the depth chart. Houston activated second-round pick McDonald and veteran safety Stewart from injured reserve, then elevated Hall from the practice squad for his season debut as the team continues to sort out which pieces are ready to help right away and which are still being eased back in.
Houston also released Gronowski and Oliver from the 53-man roster, with both expected to land back on the practice squad, while Murray remains on the active roster and could factor into the defense with a starting role. For a team trying to settle its mix heading into a divisional game, the question now is less about who is available than how quickly all of these moving parts can be put into place. [Read more 🡒]
Texans Face Their First True Must Win Against The Titans
The Texans have spent the first month trying to steady themselves after an 0-4 start, and this trip into division play has taken on a far different feel than a typical early-season game. With Tennessee also sitting at 0-4, the meeting brings a rare sense of urgency on both sides, but especially for Houston, which has watched its defense slip from last seasons standard and responded by putting Lovie Smith back in charge of calling plays.
For a team that still had some room to dream despite the rough opening, the math has turned plain in a hurry. A loss or even a tie would leave Houston in a hole no club has ever climbed out of, and with playoff hopes hanging by that thread, the Texans now face the kind of game that can define a season long before the calendar says it should.
