The Texans are making another set of practice-squad changes, and this time the additions come with a quarterback in the mix.
According to Aaron Wilson, Houston is signing center Gavin Gerhardt and quarterback Mark Gronowski to the practice squad. To clear the necessary space, the team is releasing defensive tackle Dom Bailey and center Ka’ena De Cambra.
That leaves the Texans’ practice squad with a fresh look, and Gronowski is the most notable name in the shuffle. The 25-year-old began his college career at South Dakota State, spent a season at Iowa and redshirted there, then went back to South Dakota State. Over three seasons as a starter, he earned first-team all-conference honors once and second-team recognition twice.
Gronowski returned to Iowa for the 2025 season and opened the year as the starting quarterback. He signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 draft and was among Miami’s final roster cuts coming out of camp this year. He stayed on the Dolphins’ practice squad after cutdowns, but that stint ended shortly after.
In 2025, Gronowski started 13 games and completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 1,741 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also carried the ball 130 times for 545 yards and 16 scores.
