Texans Move Raises Early Questions About Houstons Linebacker Plans

The Houston Texans have parted ways with promising rookie linebacker Aiden Fisher, raising questions about his future in the NFL.

The Texans have cut ties with rookie linebacker Aiden Fisher, parting ways with the former Indiana standout before Sunday morning’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jordan Schultz reported the move this way: “Sources: The #Texans are releasing rookie LB Aiden Fisher. The 7th-round pick was an All-American last season en route to helping Indiana win a national championship. He will be on waivers.”

Fisher’s college résumé was built on a long climb. He followed Curt Cignetti through his entire college career, beginning at James Madison before transferring to Indiana, where he became a key piece of the Hoosiers’ defense during their championship run. Over 28 games with Indiana, he piled up 215 total tackles, with 95 of them solo, plus 16 tackles for loss for 49 yards, six sacks for 30 yards, two interceptions, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

That production led to Houston taking him in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the 243rd pick. But his early NFL stretch never really got going. In three games for a Texans team that enters Week 6 at 1-4, Fisher finished with just one solo tackle.

After the draft, Fisher talked about the work that carried him to the league and the mindset he brought with him.

“That's kind of the story of my life. Nothing's been given to me easy.

I've worked for everything that I've had. I've worked harder than anybody.

I put more time in than anybody. Having that transition once already - to go to a new place where I don't know anybody and I have to gain respect, prove why I belong - has helped me a lot.

And I'm ready to do it again.”

He added: “I have no doubt in my mind I'll be successful at it - to be able to put my head down and be as humble as possible and just hungry to learn, to work, and impact the football team to win some football games.”

Texans Head To London With A Roster Problem They Cant Ignore

The Texans are heading to London for their matchup with the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium carrying more than just the usual travel questions. Houston is dealing with a roster situation that could shape both sides of the ball, with running back David Montgomery ruled out and safety Jalen Pitre among the key players listed questionable.

Woody Marks is expected to shoulder a bigger load in the backfield with Montgomery unavailable, while the secondary could feel the strain if Pitre cannot go. There is some relief for Houston, though, with Azeez Al-Shaair and Trent Brown both back to full participation, giving the Texans a little help as they try to sort through a week that has put their depth to the test. Texans Get A Key Defensive Boost Ahead Of Jaguars Game

The Texans made a few roster moves ahead of their Week 6 trip to face the Jaguars, and the biggest one was getting Henry TooToo back on the active roster. The starting weak-side linebacker had missed the past four weeks with a shoulder injury, so his return gives Houston a needed boost on defense as it prepares for a divisional game with plenty on the line.

Houston also elevated Bryce Hall and Jawhar Jordan from the practice squad for the matchup, while moving on from seventh-round rookie Fisher and undrafted defensive back Collin Wright from the 53-man roster. The shuffle adds some short-term flexibility for the Texans, but the attention is on how quickly TooToo can settle back in after his time away. [Read more 🡒]

Marvin Harrison Jr. Already Sees Something Building With C.J. Stroud

After a positive start in Houston, Marvin Harrison Jr. is already sounding like a receiver who feels the fit with C.J. Stroud. The Texans wideout spoke about the early connection he has been building with his quarterback, and it is the kind of development Houston has been eager to watch take shape as the offense continues to settle in.

For a team trying to stack reliable playmakers around Stroud, the chemistry between a top receiver and a young quarterback can matter as much as any box score. Harrisons comfort level so early in the partnership suggests the Texans may be seeing the beginning of something they can lean on as the season moves forward, even if the bigger picture is still unfolding.
