The Houston Texans are going all-in on local identity with their new Nike Rivalries uniform, and the result is as Houston as it gets.
The team and Nike unveiled the HOUSTON/US set for the NFL x Nike Rivalries Program, a look built around H-Town blue, street-level details and a clear nod to the city’s car culture. It will debut in Week 11 when the Texans face the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.
The most eye-catching change is the Liberty White helmet, which the team says is a tribute to the 1999 prototype helmet shown by late founder Bob McNair. It’s the first time in franchise history the Texans will wear a white shell.
The rest of the design keeps leaning into Houston’s visual identity. The facemask comes in chrome H-Town Blue, the numbers use a stenciled block style inspired by the “Be Someone” graffiti on the I-45 bridge, and the nameplates and trim pull from the blue-and-white tiled typography seen on Houston street corners for more than a century. The sides of the helmet also feature the blackletter “H” with metallic silver, H-Town Blue and Battle Red accents.
“We are so proud to finally reveal our Rivalries uniforms,” Houston Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair said.
“From the beginning, we charged our team with creating something meaningful for Houston and Texans fans, and they delivered. As a native Houstonian, I know how special the details of this uniform are and we hope our fans will take great pride in the fact that it is so unique to our city. The white helmet is a special nod to the beginning of our franchise as we celebrate our 25th season, and we can't wait to see our players take the field in these uniforms.”
The whole package is meant to feel less like a standard alternate and more like a direct tribute to the city itself, with the Texans set to wear it under the Thursday night lights against the Colts.
