Tank Dell Return Suddenly Feels Much Closer For Texans Fans

While Texans wide receiver Tank Dell continues his recovery, GM Nick Caserio shares promising news that hints at a potentially imminent return to the field.

The Texans may be getting closer to the Tank Dell reunion they’ve been waiting on.

Houston general manager Nick Caserio said the wide receiver is moving in the right direction and could be back on the field within the next two weeks, as Dell continues to work his way back from the knee injury that has kept him out since December 2024.

“He’s trending, unless he has a setback, he’s trending in the right direction. Whether it’s this week or next week,” Caserio said on 95.7 The Fan.

That’s the clearest sign yet that Dell’s return is nearing. He has not played in a regular-season game since suffering a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs in December 2024. The injury ended his season and also kept him sidelined for the entire 2025 season.

Dell was around the team during training camp this summer, but Houston placed him on injured reserve to open the 2026 season while he kept working toward full recovery. On Oct. 7, the Texans opened his 21-day practice window, a move that allowed him to practice without activating him from injured reserve right away.

That window matters, but it didn’t guarantee anything. Dell was later ruled out for Houston’s Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans after missing Friday’s practice, leaving the Texans to keep waiting for a clean bill of health.

Now the schedule gives Houston a few paths. The next chance for Dell to return is this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

If that comes too soon, the following week’s matchup with the New York Giants could be another opening. The Texans could also decide to hold him back until after their Week 8 bye.

Even with the optimism, Houston isn’t treating the timeline like a lock. Caserio made it clear a setback would change the picture, and the team knows Dell won’t just step back into peak form the second he’s activated. He’s missed nearly two full seasons of regular-season football, and getting back into game shape after an injury like this takes time.

Still, the tone around Dell’s recovery has shifted. Caserio’s update is the most encouraging sign yet that Houston is nearing the finish line with one of its most dangerous playmakers.

Texans Move Raises Early Questions About Houstons Linebacker Plans

The Texans have already made an early roster decision on rookie linebacker Aiden Fisher, releasing the seventh-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft after a brief stint in Houston. Fisher arrived with a strong college resume after playing a key role on Indianas national championship team, but his first taste of the NFL was limited to three games and one solo tackle.

For a defense that has been sorting through its linebacker depth, the move is a reminder that draft status alone does not buy much time. Fisher is now subject to waivers, and his exit leaves Houston with another question to answer as it continues shaping the middle of its defense heading into the next stretch of roster moves. Texans Head To London With A Roster Problem They Cant Ignore

The Texans are heading to London for their matchup with the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium carrying more than just the usual travel questions. Houston is dealing with a roster situation that could shape both sides of the ball, with running back David Montgomery ruled out and safety Jalen Pitre among the key players listed questionable.

Woody Marks is expected to shoulder a bigger load in the backfield with Montgomery unavailable, while the secondary could feel the strain if Pitre cannot go. There is some relief for Houston, though, with Azeez Al-Shaair and Trent Brown both back to full participation, giving the Texans a little help as they try to sort through a week that has put their depth to the test. Texans Get A Key Defensive Boost Ahead Of Jaguars Game

The Texans made a few roster moves ahead of their Week 6 trip to face the Jaguars, and the biggest one was getting Henry TooToo back on the active roster. The starting weak-side linebacker had missed the past four weeks with a shoulder injury, so his return gives Houston a needed boost on defense as it prepares for a divisional game with plenty on the line.

Houston also elevated Bryce Hall and Jawhar Jordan from the practice squad for the matchup, while moving on from seventh-round rookie Fisher and undrafted defensive back Collin Wright from the 53-man roster. The shuffle adds some short-term flexibility for the Texans, but the attention is on how quickly TooToo can settle back in after his time away. [Read more 🡒]
