Marvin Harrison was nowhere to be found on Sunday in Arizona, and the oddest part of all was that the trade chatter around him had already spilled into the open before the games even kicked off.
The report that Harrison would be dealt to a team to be named later landed in fragments, with Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport of ESPNFL each contributing to the mystery. By Sunday, the suggestion was that the destination may have been known but held back from public view. One source told PFT that some insiders - possibly including Schefter and/or Rapoport - were aware Harrison had hired agents for the first time in his career last month, but kept that detail quiet so the effort to move him could unfold without setting off a broader sense that Arizona might be heading into a fire sale.
That mattered because the whole setup made for one of the strangest trade reports in recent memory. The big question was whether the Cardinals and Texans were still grinding through the final details on Saturday or whether the deal had already been locked in and simply held for later.
The best read is that it was already done.
The reason for the delay appears to have been simple: both sides wanted to avoid turning Sunday into a distraction before their games. That seemed to matter more for the Texans than for the Cardinals, especially once word got around that Arizona was sending Harrison out of town.
The secrecy fits, too. Cardinals G.M.
Monti Ossenfort and Texans G.M. Nick Caserio spent 14 years together, from 2006 through 2019, working for Lord of Secrecy Bill Belichick, and that kind of background helps explain why the facts have been so hard to pin down.
The Texans didn’t keep the lid on it all the way. At the end of his postgame press conference, coach DeMeco Ryans - who was never a member of the Belichick hive - let it slip after being asked about Harrison multiple times.
At that point, the Cardinals game had not ended. It hadn’t even started; their kickoff was set for 4:25 p.m.
ET.
If the move had not already been agreed to, Arizona would have had every reason to wait. There was still time for another team, or maybe several, to lose a receiver to injury and suddenly get interested, including up through the Monday night matchup between the Bills and Rams.
In that scenario, the Cardinals could have squeezed out a better return for the fourth overall pick in the 2026 draft. Instead, they moved before Week 5 was fully in the books, which strongly suggests the deal was already in place.
There’s still one last hurdle: Harrison has to pass a physical. That is usually just a formality, but it is the same kind of formality that kept Maxx Crosby in Las Vegas after the deal that would have sent him to Baltimore was announced. Since Harrison has been playing this season, there’s no particular reason to expect trouble there, but until the doctors sign off, it is not technically finished.
So the haggling appears to have ended before Sunday’s games even began. What remained was the confusion created by only a partial report, which predictably sent people down the rabbit hole of tinfoil-hat theories about whether someone was trying to make a little money in the prediction markets.

Titans Had An Even Rougher Day Than Texans Fans Realized
The Texans 26-3 win over Tennessee already stood out for how firmly Houston controlled the game, but one of the more unexpected side notes came from across the field. Cornerback CorDale Flott drew plenty of attention on social media for wearing a notably oversized helmet, turning an ordinary NFL broadcast moment into a running joke as the Titans tried to keep pace in a lopsided game.
Flotts afternoon got even worse after he suffered a chest injury and entered concussion protocol, ending his day and opening the door for Micah Robinson to step in. For Houston, the result was a needed first win to move to 1-4, while Tennessee left NRG Stadium still searching for its first victory at 0-5, with the on-field issues matched by an injury scare that only added to the rough day. Texans Win Came With A Strange Titans Moment Fans Couldn't Ignore
During Tennessees loss to the Texans, one unexpected sidelight had fans doing a double-take: cornerback CorDale Flotts helmet became a topic of jokes on social media. It was the kind of odd in-game detail that briefly cut through the usual division-rival noise, even as the Texans kept control of a game that mattered plenty in the AFC South race.
Flotts night also took a more serious turn when he suffered a chest injury and left the field, opening the door for teammate Micah Robinson to step in. For Tennessee, it was another rough chapter in a season that has opened with five straight losses, while Houston walked away with the win and an extra bit of postgame chatter it probably never expected. Texans Snap Counts Hint At Two Injury-Driven Changes Fans Need To Watch
The Texans Week 5 snap counts against the Titans offered a clearer look at how quickly injuries can reshape a game plan, especially on a roster that is still sorting out roles on the fly. David Montgomery was limited to just nine snaps because of a groin injury, which opened the door for Woody Marks to see more work, while rookie Kayden McDonald made his return from injury and logged 11 snaps as Houston eased him back into the defense.
Jalen Pitres shoulder injury added another wrinkle, with the veteran leaving the game and rookie Kamari Ramsey stepping in to help fill the void. Both Pitre and Montgomery are considered week-to-week, and that leaves the Texans watching a pair of important spots closely as they head into the next stretch, with the snap distribution from Sunday serving as an early clue to how the staff may have to adjust.
