Colts Contracts: A Weekend of Financial Moves
The Indianapolis Colts were busy this past weekend, with several players seeing their contract triggers vest. Cornerback Charvarius Ward now has a guaranteed $12.9 million salary for 2026, ensuring his place in the Colts' defensive strategy.
Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner secured a hefty $10 million roster bonus, a testament to his crucial role on the line. Defensive back Cam Bynum also saw his 2026 salary of $10 million become guaranteed, solidifying his future with the team.
Meanwhile, left tackle Bernhard Raimann has $8.3 million of his 2027 salary guaranteed, ensuring his protection for the Colts' offense. Guard Quenton Nelson earned a $2 million roster bonus, and wide receiver Ashton Dulin picked up a $340,000 bonus, both rewarding their contributions to the team’s efforts.
Jaguars’ Financial and Scouting Moves
The Jacksonville Jaguars also made significant financial commitments. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence now has a guaranteed $41 million salary for 2027, a clear indication of the franchise’s faith in their star QB. Offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen has $15.25 million of his 2027 salary guaranteed, reinforcing the offensive line's stability.
The Jaguars are actively scouting talent, as evidenced by their meetings at the Combine. Arizona State's CB Keith Abney, Texas' TE Jack Endries, and Georgia's TE Oscar Delp were among those who had formal meetings with the team.
Clemson WR Antonio Williams, Oregon OL Alex Harkey, Washington RB Jonah Coleman, Alabama C Parker Brailsford, and Vanderbilt TE Eli Stowers also had formal interactions with the Jaguars. Additionally, Georgia Tech WR Eric Rivers had a private meeting with the team around his pro day, indicating the Jaguars' thorough approach to scouting.
Texans’ New Addition: Montgomery’s Prime Time
The Houston Texans' new running back, David Montgomery, is feeling confident and ready to make an impact alongside QB C.J. Stroud.
Montgomery, entering his eighth year, believes he’s in his prime and is eager to showcase his unique skill set. Known for his power, Montgomery insists he brings more to the table than typical power backs.
“I’m not going to say what I can or will do, I’m just going to show it,” Montgomery stated, emphasizing his preference for action over words.
Montgomery is also impressed by Stroud’s resilience and ability to handle both highs and lows. “That’s somebody I want to play with and be able to go to war with,” Montgomery said, highlighting Stroud’s mental toughness and readiness to face challenges head-on. This dynamic duo could be a force to reckon with as the Texans look to make their mark.
