CJ Stroud Gains New Weapon as Texans Sign Former Saints Star

Texans bolster their offensive arsenal with the addition of veteran tight end Foster Moreau, aiming to support CJ Stroud's development.

The Houston Texans are gearing up for a comeback after a bittersweet 2025 season. Their defense was nothing short of stellar, but the offense, led by quarterback CJ Stroud, stumbled when it counted most, leading to a 28-16 loss against the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round.

To bolster Stroud's arsenal, the Texans have signed tight end Foster Moreau, as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Moreau, a seasoned pro with seven years in the league, began his career with the then-Oakland Raiders as a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Despite high hopes from the Raiders, Moreau didn't quite reach his potential there and later joined the New Orleans Saints.

In New Orleans, Moreau had his best season in 2024, catching 32 passes for 413 yards and scoring five touchdowns. However, injuries plagued him last year, limiting his impact as Juwan Johnson took the spotlight.

This signing adds depth to the Texans' tight end position, especially after re-signing Dalton Schultz to a one-year, $12 million extension. While Moreau's role may be primarily supportive, his blocking skills and positive presence in the locker room are valuable assets.

Houston is also making moves to strengthen their ground game. They acquired running back David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions, addressing a significant gap in their offense since Joe Mixon's departure. While rookie Woody Marks showed potential last season, his inconsistency and struggles in pass protection highlighted the need for a more reliable option.

With these strategic additions, the Texans are setting the stage for a more balanced and dynamic offense in the upcoming season.
