If Ryans wants the offense to come out with urgency, those are the names most likely to shape how it looks. Collins remains the obvious centerpiece, Schultz gives Stroud a reliable target underneath, and Noel has a chance to turn his expanded role into something meaningful right away.
The roster churn on the defensive side kept going, too. Caserio’s decision to bring in six defensive backs for workouts on Tuesday showed that Houston is still fine-tuning the back end. And with right tackle Braden Smith on Injured Reserve, Trent Brown is stepping into the starting spot up front.
All of it fits the same theme: the Texans are trying to make sure every layer of the roster is ready, not just the headline names. The captaincy announcement only reinforced that sense of order and structure heading into the opener.
For Stroud, though, the message was the one he put out publicly. No panic.
No distraction. Just a quarterback saying he’s prepared for the weight that comes with the role.
