Stefon Diggs Legal Update Could Prevent Texans Reunion

Stefon Diggs faces serious allegations from Christopher Griffith amidst a backdrop of potential NFL interest, challenging his public image and legal standing.

Stefon Diggs is back in the news for all the wrong reasons, and the latest court filing adds another layer to an already messy situation.

On Tuesday, TMZ reported that newly filed court documents show Diggs asked Christopher Griffith to turn over records tied to a May 2023 trip to Washington, D.C. Griffith reportedly pushed back, saying Diggs already had those materials.

Griffith’s side says the request doesn’t make sense because Diggs and his team were the ones who arranged the trip in the first place. His lawyer argued:

“[T]o the extent travel arrangements, confirmations or related documents exist, they are at least equally within [Stefon’s] possession, custody or control.”

That trip is at the center of Griffith’s allegations. He claims Diggs sexually assaulted him after giving him candy that had been laced with a drug.

Griffith says Diggs then took out his penis and began masturbating, which he found revolting. He also alleges Diggs tried to kiss him and invited him to his room, but Griffith refused.

About a week later, Griffith says Diggs’ older brother Darez and two others attacked him.

Diggs has denied the accusations and has filed a defamation suit against Griffith. His lawyer said:

"[Chris] engaged in extreme and outrageous conduct by knowingly publishing false statements accusing Plaintiff of violence, sexual assault, drugging people, and serious crimes."

Even with the legal fight hanging over him, Diggs is still being discussed as a possible NFL option. On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s NFL Live, former quarterback Tim Hasselbeck brought up the Chiefs as a potential fit.

"I think that there's value in Stefon Diggs in some role. A veteran receiver in some role, a team that's good with a quarterback that can handle him."

Jeremy Fowler then said Diggs could have a market closer to training camp.

"I'm hearing he's gonna have a market closer to training camp. I was told that at least five teams that need a wide receiver have been checking in.

I'm looking to the DMV; that's where he's from. Commanders certainly need a receiver.

I think they're looking for more a speed option at this point."

Diggs finished the 2025 season with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, then added 14 receptions for 110 yards and a score in the playoffs.

Houston May Have Found The Playmaker Fans Have Been Waiting For

Paris Melvin Jr. has been on Houstons radar since he committed to the program in July of last year, and the buzz around him has only grown as the Cougars look ahead to the upcoming season. Listed on the roster as both a running back and a defensive back, Melvin brings the kind of versatility that can make a staff take notice, especially for a player who was a dual-threat in high school and arrived with a reputation for being an intriguing all-around talent.

For Houston, the appeal is obvious: Melvins clearest path to early impact appears to be on offense, where his playmaking ability could give the Cougars another option to explore. The question now is how quickly he can turn promise into production and carve out real snaps in a room that already has established names in front of him. [Read more 🡒]

Houston May Have Finally Become The Big 12's Toughest Scout

Houstons offense is starting to look like the kind of unit that can force Big 12 opponents to spend a lot more time guessing than planning. The Cougars have added enough new pieces to give the roster a different feel, and the overall mix of transfers and recruits has created more flexibility across the board, from the backfield to the defensive front.

Javion White and Jaden Yates are part of that broader reshaping on defense, while the offense has the personnel to change its tempo and style depending on the matchup and the flow of the game. Houston is not just trying to be better in 2026, it is trying to become harder to scout, and the next question is whether that variety can translate into the kind of weekly edge that matters in a league full of sharp defensive minds. Willie Fritz Has Houston Chasing A Breakthrough Few Teams Ever Reach

Willie Fritz has spent three seasons steadily reshaping Houston, and the results are starting to show in ways the program has not seen in a long time. The Cougars won 10 games in 2025 and finished fourth in the Big 12, a sign that the culture change Fritz has pushed is translating into real performance rather than just optimism.

Now the conversation around Houston has shifted from progress to possibility, with the 2026 roster drawing attention as one that could be the most complete in program history. There is still plenty to prove before that kind of label sticks, but the mix of returning talent and offseason help has given the Cougars a level of hope that feels different from the usual preseason noise.
